this was actually pretty funny and very FAIL... The guy unloaded his gun into the room and missed every target. It was pathetic. Lucky for the school board members, but embarassing for the guy who was looking to go out in a flash...

In the end he shot himself in the head and killed himself.

He wasn't a moron, well he might have been who knows, but essentially he was seriously mentally ill.

Intelligent people do things like this too when they get mentally ill

Of course mentally ill people are not allowed to have guns in the USA - so he should have turned the gun in to the Police as soon as he realised he was mentally ill

Which is as realistic as - 'are you entering the country with the intent of illegally overthrowing the government by force - YES/NO

If so, which chapter of the tea party do you intend to join ?

said shooter was also a convicted felon and shouldn't have had a gun to begin with....

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

I can imagine how hard it must be for a felon to get a gun in the USA (not)

Marginally harder than me buying a bag of cheese and onion crisps in a Timothy Taylor pub in Yorkshire

A non felon who is mentally ill cannot get a gun because on the form it asks 'are you mentally ill ?'

I think the person who formulated the forms and thought they were more use than a chocolate fire guard, should be classed as mentally deficient

In the UK he would have been interrogated for 6 months to see if he was a fit person to have a gun. He would have been naked except for a bag on the head and his toes wired to the mains - he would have been stabbed with cattle prods - if at any time he swore or looked angry, his application would have been refused

Considering this joker was firing from inside 10 feet and hit nobody I would have to say moron is appropriate since whacko is a given.

I don't know how they overlooked this:

State prison records show Duke was charged in Oct. 1999 with aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice. He was convicted and sentenced in Jan. 2000 to five years in prison but was released in Jan. 2004

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Yeah we should just ban guns.

just back from the range - took my glock for a walk

sick of it now - I am rifleman really so I will flog it and the Ruger LCP as there isn't room in my hip pocket for another powerful mass

I showed the guys my new US passport

I have just realised that apart from my wife, I don't know any American citizen who has a passport !

They might as well be pigmy bushmen for all the world view they have...

The gun club members have been abroad but they didn't have passports and they only saw the locals through the sights of a gun or during a body count

Your sense of humour is very warped to say the least. I saw nothing funny in it. It was a very shocking and ultimately sad event. The gun man was a person who believed his wife had been seriously maltreated by the school board. No doubt he was suffering from high stress. He should not have gone in and tried to shoot at those he held responsible for whatever grievance he held but thank goodness he failed to hit anyone, and I'll lay odds that it was at least in part due whether subconsciously or not to his really not wanting to kill anyone and luckily he didn't.

This is assuming he obtained the gun legally. Plenty of ways to get a gun without having to fill out any forms or answer any questions.
