Several months ago I renewed my 10 year green card and got a Biometrics done in October 2010. Now I decided to apply for citizenship and file a N-400.

Would they be able to use my Biometrics for the Green Card renewal for the N-400 as well?

Do you think they will see I have already had my Biometrics done and so not require me to do another biometrics for the N-400?

I paid both biometrics just in case but it's such a hassle to drive to Seattle to have it done

Hi!

Maybe they will not ask you for Bio, but still you have to pay the $85 fee.

Gather the USCIS doesn't feel its their fault you don't live across the street from there field office, was only 11 months since my wife had her biometrics taken for her ten year card, USCIS claims they can store your fingerprints for up to 15 months, but you still had to pay the then 80 dollar fee. Cost them that much to store that small file and retrieve it.

For us it was 1,350 miles of driving for citizenship, first trip for just the fingerprints, second for the interview, and the third for the oath ceremony to get that certificate. Now I understand they also take your photo for the certificate, so expecting to make the same trips again for my stepdaughter since she was barely over 18 when my wife could apply. So expecting to make these same trips again providing everything is correct. Friends had to make additional trips if they wanted another piece of evidence even though all the evidence they required was supplied.

We also requested a same day oath, St. Paul doesn't do that. Did request the civics learning material for that biometrics trip and did receive it, although far more convenient to download it off the net. This is the worse time of year to apply for citizenship, has taken me as long as ten hours to drive back when we encountered a severe winter storm blizzard, couldn't even see the road. They don't care about that either. You just do it.
