Hello Everyone!!

So today I received the good news in the mail - our NOA2 is approved!!! :D

Now, I have a question regarding the US Consulates in Brazil in particular - can anyone share their experience here please?? My fiance speaks little to no English right now, so I am concerned about his being able to fill out the packet sent by the Embassy and the interview itself. Can interviews be conducted in the language of the country in which the Consulate is located??

Also, I am planning on going back to be there + help with part of this process, but I cannot afford more than 3 weeks from work (and that's a stretch). I'm not sure I will still be around by the time his interview rolls around, is this ok? I know I can't enter the room anyway...

I would love to hear how others handled this part of the process, especially if the fiance was not an English speaker.

Thanks for any advice/comments/sharing of experiences.

Hi, we are also waiting for interview in Brasil, only consulate for interviews will be in Rio for the I129/130 visas. They can do either Portuguese or English, no problem, most of the consulate workers speak better portuguese than english anyway. From other posts it seems both can be present during the interview, and it's pretty much the same questions. Boa sorte!

Hi!

First things first,

Firstly congratulations on your NOA2.

In all of VJ has examples of all forms to fill her boyfriend

Second, the consulate here everyone speaks English and Portuguese, will not have trouble interview.

Third: If you are not able to come to accompany him do not worry, he can arrange all documentation alone.

I'll send a link of all necessary documents.

Good luck to you guys if you need anything else and I can help just contact us.

Congratulations! Yes, the interview can be done in Portuguese. My husband spoke little English at the time of his interview. He was just asked how we communicate since he doesn't speak English, so be prepared for that question. I am fluent in Portuguese, so it was no problem. I was also unable to attend the interview, and it was no problem at all. If you are concerned about filling out the forms, you can do what I did. When you go down to spend the 3 weeks there, take a copy of all the forms filled out as an example (or do it together while you are there). I had that same worry, but it worked out great for us to do everything together. I would be happy to give you any advice if you want to send me a private message. It can be in Portuguese or English. Good luck to you!
