$350 per visa USD..

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1263.html#temp

Not sure if the consulate takes credit cards, I know others like Guangzhou want Cash, paid to a bank prior to interview.

3. Fee: Duplicate receipt of MRV (Machine Readable Visa) application fee issued by Citibank. The MRV fee is US $131 for each applicant regardless of age. You need to present your appointment letter, pay the fee and receive a receipt in duplicate at Citibank office located at: Sun Wah Tower, Ground floor, 115 Nguyen Hue, District 1, HCMC. Citibank is open from 8:30–11:30and13:00–15:30,MondaythroughFriday. The Bank only accepts US dollars in cash.

For clarity, this is a visa application fee, not an interview fee. It must be paid exactly according to the instructions given by the Consulate but usually, it must be paid in person, in local currency equal to $350 each, so forget about your credit card unless you're taking a cash advance before heading to Western Union.

So my fiancée has to pay it in person or myself if I go back before the interview? Very limited options I think. Thanks for the response.

Dan,

Does Guangzhou take USD or RMB for the $350 visa fee? With USD fluctuating and mostly devalue against the RMB, I'd much rather pay cash in USD.

Thanks.

RMB is fine, it is paid to the CITIC bank, easiest place to pay this is down the street at the branch in the CITIC tower building which you cannot miss because that building is the tallest building in Guangzhou.

In the past it has been required to be paid at the citibank near the consulate.. they dont require that any individual pays it, but it must be paid prior to the interview... Moving to the VN regional as there may have been a change in recent months since we had our interview...

how much does Western Union charge to send money?

I don't know the exact breakdown. I've been charged $6 for sending between $100 and $400. I sent $1000 over the summer to help get my MIL's roof replaced, and I think I paid $12.

It's a lot less than you'd pay to send money within the US. They charge $15 per $100 to send within the US.

Also, it's a good idea to specify that the money should be paid out in US dollars. Western Union doesn't give the best exchange rate. They hold a little back as an exchange fee. The recipient will get a better deal if they pickup the cash in US dollars and go to a jewelry store to exchange it for VN dong.

ABC money transfers cost me 4 dollars per 100, sent 600 dollars last night and they gave a bit of a discount a fee of 22 dollars. This service is availble at one of our Asian markets. What I like about this service that it's fast usually within 12 to 24 hours and she recieves U.S dollar. I've used this money service for the last 2 years and have'nt been dissapointed. i will send the $1050 via this service, I was just a bit lery beacause i've never sent it to a Saigon adress , always her residence down south.

That is basically what Rich said, within 24 hours she usually has her money in USD. His fear was he always had it delivered to her house in the country side, and his fiancee will be in Saigon for the next couple of weeks and was worried about having it sent to a Saigon address instead of her home one.
