It's the law. In much of the rest of Europe it's 16.

Law or not I don't believe consent should be at 14. In much of the USA its 16 also.

Most of the states I have lived in has been 18 consent 18 responsible. Its stupid to say someone has consent at 14 but not held responsible for their actions. 14 is way too young.

In your opinion - however, the facts are rather interesting.

Believe it or not, the US actually has the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the developed world. Germany is down the other end of the scale.

In your opinion. Which you are entitled to. But until you get elevated to be the great ruler of Germany, I think they'll stick with what they got.

ETA: The average age of first sex in Germany and the US is roughly the same at 17.6 and 18.0 years, respectively. Teen pregnancy rates, as has been pointed out earlier, are more than 4 times as high in the US vs. Germany. Seems to me that giving young people the tools and ability to make responsible choices does pay off. Of course, you can continue to labor under the delusion that keeping the age of censent high actually provides a positive payoff of some sort. I don't see it.

A 17 yr old is a kid that still has a lot to learn about life.

This isn't all directed specifically at you, but this statement here is at the core of something important.

The first thing malicious predators do is de-humanize their victims.

The second thing they do is pretend their savage acts are in the name of noble causes.

So we de-humanize the 17 year old, by insisting she is a "kid" that has no legal rights (despite the law), no brain, no feelings worthy of our concern...

Then we dismember the person she loves with glee, terrorizing and traumatizing her, in the name of "protecting" her of course.

When people come out cheering brutal murderous acts, that's who they are. (As in the OP)

Monsters always wear masks. The girl is just a sub-human prop to them to hide the vicious bully they are. They couldn't care less about the girl, obviously. Not one whit of empathy for the 17 year old.

They'll go on ad-infinitum with the reasons her feelings are invalid, why she should be of no concern at the same time insisting concern for her is the reason for their brutality.

"Pay no attention to me cheering on acts of sexual violence upon innocent people. Pay no attention to me terrorizing this girl."

Bullies are always pointing the finger away from themselves too, demanding the 57 year old they attempt murder upon needs to explain himself.

These are the people society needs protection from. They are the last people on earth you would ever want to have any kind of power, especially this 17 year old.

Always watch for malicious predators tipping their hand by pretending to care for some group while salivating over horrific acts of violence upon another.
