How stupid? You mean how stupid of you to say that? Parents in Germany - as in most of the developed world including the US - are responsible for their children until they reach the age of 18. That does not mean, however, that parents own their children or any part of them. And it also does not mean that children have no ability to make any decisions of their own until they are 18. This is where the age of consent comes in that varies from country to country - or from state to state here in the US. Even if a child has reached the aged of consent, the parents are still responsible for that child until it has reached the age of majority. These are two different things which you appear to confuse - on top of confusing parental responsibility with ownership.

Your right in that today American kids generally are not all that mature, but think back to your grandparents and your great grandparents. They were likely acting as full adults by 15 or so. Somehow, someway we've screwed up since then. (I blame my parents generation lol)

The guy that had his balls cut off nearly bled to death. What the Dad did was heinous and unjustifiable. There are other ways he could have handled this situation that did not involve nearly murdering someone. IMO to think that the Dad is justified in his actions is an abhorent indication of the bloodthirstiness of some people.

edit-I also think Lorena Bobbit should have received a harsher prison sentence for what she did. The penalty for age or cheating or being a prat is not castration and people cannot take the law into their own hands. Neither was acting in self defense.

Most of the states I have lived in has been 18 consent 18 responsible. Its stupid to say someone has consent at 14 but not held responsible for their actions. 14 is way too young.
