Simpson, your response, and aparent mindset reflect that of someone who hasn't had much experience with cultures outside of the U.S..

Simply not true.

I'm very glad that I grew up early.

Based on some of the things you have posted at expats I dont think you have grown up as much as you think.

There are far too many 35 year olds in the U.S. with the maturity level of a 15 year old

There are far too many implants that think they have the U.S. all figured out.

What creeps me out about this story is the father's sense of entitlement to police his daughter's sexuality. The sex was consensual. Dad doesn't own his daughter's "crotchal area" (at least the TSA gave us a funny expression, there).

It's just sex, FFS! It's not like female sex organs are these precious, gossamer, sacrosanct parts of the body that must be protected from vile male despoilation. Jeezus!

Creepy; paternalistic; and ego-centric on the Dad's part. Ugh!

Well he kind of does own her "crotchal area". He is responsible for her until 18.

No, I didn't know what you meant.

So Rob is a naturalized citizen? Has he said this before?

That I dont know, should I have posted "soon to be implants" instead. Why the semantics? He made a broad statement that I didnt agree with and in my own way suggested he should quit thinking hes a expert in maturity in the USA.

Transplants?

Yes courtesy of Cupid.

Dude, no offense, but judging someone's maturity level based on postings from expats is absurd. It's dinner theatre over there, don't take things quite so literal.

I get what your saying. Rob were you born here in the USA?

Yes I was. I have lived extensively in Ireland, N. Ireland, Spain and Mexico as well.

In these countries kids are expected to be an adult at a much younger age?

I don't know that it is expected, but it sure did seem the norm. It's not like I was expected to go out at 14 and work in some factory so as not to be a burden to my family. But I certainly couldn't use the excuse "come on, i'm just a kid" anymore.

Here in the states it is custom for a kid to start his own life at 18 rather it be a job or college. I think that is a appropriate and reasonable age. I think 14 is way too young. Do we have our fair share of slackers here, yes. More so than most other countries, I think not.
