First, the age of consent in Germany is 14. That's why the police couldn't do anything. The father might not have liked it - but other than talk to his daughter about the relationship he had no justification whatsoever for what he did.

The prior posted departed off this story onto justice in Foreign countries, I was basically responding to that.

But sometimes people do have to take the law into their own hands for justice to be served.

What you are saying is that SOMETIMES, when people do things that are perfectly legal, but YOU don't like them, so YOU decide you must violently harm and cripple that person for life or possibly KILL them, to "serve justice"? There is NO CRIME in a 57 year old dating, marrying or having sex with a 17 year old in Germany and in many (if not most) US States. NO ONE was breaking the law.

I disagree...sort of. Society as a whole has been delaying the maturation of children for the past 50 years. Historically, a 17 year old is a fully mature adult. Now you have people quite frankly my age who are still not fully mature adults and its because they haven't been put into a position to grow up.

Most of Germany's laws have lower age requirements and from what I've experience, Germans mature faster that Americans because their society forces them to. Which is good. We have far too many 20 year olds in America still clinging to childhood.

Now you have people quite frankly my age who are still not fully mature adults and its because they haven't been put into a position to grow up.

Because a man written law authored by an ordinary man that lived hundreds of years ago is to be worshiped and respected and followed as if it was written by God above. This is why I could never be a retardatarian because they worship and praise and abide by man written laws as if they are religious scriptures.

**On a side note. This dude took it wayyyy too far and is a psychopath for castrating her boyfriend. Although if you have a 17 year old girl then chances are you are in your mid 30s or mid 40s so it would be very painful to see your baby girl with a 57 year "old" man.

Have you been around a 17yr old or 18 for that matter. There is some serious growing up that needs to take place and this happens through real world experiences. I think the biggest sign of this girls immaturty was when she hooked up with a 57 yr old. As a adult she will look back on this and most likely wonder what the hell she was thinking.

I dont know how accurate your assessment is but I am glad that I dont live in a society were kids have to grow up at 14. This is something that usually happen in impoverished countries because of hard times. How much time have you spent in Germany?

Maybe I am just member'n wrong (it often happens now that I'm 40, that's why my wife is only 25 so she can correct me) but I could swear they were marrying & had a kid already by the time they were 16. Simpson, your response, and aparent mindset reflect that of someone who hasn't had much experience with cultures outside of the U.S.. I'm very glad that I grew up early. There are far too many 35 year olds in the U.S. with the maturity level of a 15 year old.
