Affadavit of Support questions

Hey guys,

I'm still waiting on my case number from NVC in the mean time im preparing my affadavit of support forms, so i have them ready when the time comes. I'm using my father as my joint sponsor, my father filed taxes jointly with my mother. I have their last 3 years of tax transcripts and his 3 years of w-2's. Now I am filling form I-864 for my self the sponsor, i live at home right now so im filing a I-864A for my father. Is this correct? Do i need to file a I-864A for my mom since they filed taxes jointly? I plan on moving out soon, after he is already here will that cause problems as im showing household income now? and when it asks for the current annual income i use the income from my 2009 w-2's?

Thank you guys for all the help, i hope NVC gets my case soon....ive only been checking through the IVR should i talk to a rep?

Regarding the question about current income, many poster have told me to project the current income for 2010. You should know your income for 2010 by now anyway.

I-864A is only used by a "Member of household" if you are ADDING their income to that of sponsor.

What is your income level?? If you are above 125% of poverty level, then no joint sponsor needed.

If you are using a joint sponsor, the joint sponsor also uses I-864, and if joint sponsor files a joint return then sponsor's spouse can provide an I-864A to add their income to that of the Joint sponsor.

I actually dont even have a estimated income amount for this year, i worked off and on going back and forth between bosnia and the us, your mentioning household member, I live at home so that quialifies my father as a household member? i talked to nvc and its kind what they told me but not in so many words, they just confuse me even more! thanks for the help, i greatly appreciate it

Typically a "Household Member" is your children, or spouse, you may be a member of your parent's household, however since they are not dependent on you, they may not be considered to be a member of your household. Sort of a one way thing.

It is easier for have your parent act as a Joint sponsor and provide an I-864, rather than try to make them look like a dependent member of your household.

I am a college student, so my parents fill out I-864As. As far as I know, everything is good with NVC. And yeah, we live in the same household.

thanks, i called NVC again today and they told me the same thing to do a I-864A
