Hi everyone,

I have been reading these boards since June of this year. It has been very very helpful in my fiance and I K1 process. Anyone has recieved Packet 3 please help us we are kind of confused. Thank you all for your replys.

1) First questions is my fiance got a letter from the bangkok embassy and in the letter it states that the documents can be downloaded from the internet. So will she still be getting a packet 3 in the mail?

2) And will the checklist and other material be in Thai for her? She is not so good in reading english and I do not want her to get confused.

3) If it is in english am I allowed to fill out the forms and information for her to have her send out?

4) For the DS-156k fiance it gives you documents to send them along with the form. Should I send them what they need in duplicate or what I send them on the checklist they will be looking for and evidence of engagment I should send them pictures?

Looks like they changed a few things to this process, now you have to send everything on the checklist they asked you to prepare and originals and its copies. And the fee increased from 131 to 350 dollars.

I have searched the boards but there is nothing recient on this topic since things have changed. I needed an updated post.

No need to wait for packet 3 in the mail - simply download it from the embassy's website. Your other questions will be answered by looking over packet 3.

Just in case you have not seen the embassy's website. I filled all the forms in for Rin and gave them to her during my visit (I was fortunate enough to be there every few months on business). I didn't see the instructions in Thai.

Things have changed in some areas so I am not sure about the instructions in Thai now. It was possible to get them in the past. She can go to a post office to buy a special pin number that will allow her to call the embassy so she can speak to a human and ask her questions.

I second RSN, don't wait. Ours never came, until we already had the visa and were stateside, they had sent it to my address in the US!

I just contacted the embassy (make sure you put the NVC # in the email, you can call NVC to get this number) I double checked that they had received the application and then sent in the Packet three filled out from forms available on the website. You can then make payment at the post office, and as ning said, purchase a pin if you have questions to contact someone directly at the embassy. They then email her with "Packet Four" which is a list of things to bring to the interview and an appointment date and time.

I know my wife got the checklist in Thai from some other source? perhaps a thai language message board. I would double check this stuff, hers was outdated and some of the instructions were a bit off from the translation.

AOS Mailed 5-02-2010

About how long was it between sending packet 3 to getting an e-mail?

Thanks for the tips.
