I have pretty much stopped checking my status online as it basically serves no purpose thus far, but today I got a yellow slip ( make that 3 RFEs) But no touches. Still stuck on the LUD on Dec 18th!

I was expecting one of them as it is related to my husband tax documents. We did send the tax return but forgot to include the W2s and 1099s. Now, we are trying to decide if we should send in those W2s and 1099s or just go ahead and just send "tax transcripts". I have to say that it is a little scary to read here that you just get one chance at replying the right way to those RFE's after what your application can be denied if you didn't send exactly what they requested for, so I am trying to get it the right way

For the one, I guess the Civil Surgeon messed up. Right before I sent my package, as I was double checking, I noticed that the form they had used was expired ( good thing they give me a copy of what they have an the sealed envelope), I went back and they filled up a new one, except for the page that has the Dr signature, because he wasn't there and was not going be back for a while. But reassured me that it was fine ( shame on me for not following my gut feeling and just wait on the Dr to come back). so now I have to go back ( fortunately, it should be an easy fix)

The 3rd one is for my Birth certificate. My Birth Certificate is in French with an English translation underneath each line, as my country is bilingual (French and English). I have had friends that went to this process that submitted that and never received a request for a translation. Don't know why the person dealing with my application wants when, but I will comply, no fuss. It is an easy fix too

So, hoping that I get it right with the tax documents, I should be able to sent everything back by the end of the week

I hope no one else in this group gets an RFE

Best wishes everyone!!!!

Oh no! Sorry to hear you got RFEs. I wonder if that means we are in the free and clear! I've been so nervous. That is odd however about the birth certificate. I'm not sure about the tax transcript. I've always wondered that, too. Good luck!

Thank you! :)

I am just glad that it doesn't seem to be too complicated to solve! I triple checked with people in the same situation as me as far as the birth certificate ( including some here on VJ), and they all got through the whole process without the issue of translation coming up. so I really don't know what the deal is. But like I said easy fix.

Still trying to get more input about the tax transcripts, I should just have send that in the first place, less hassle than the whole tax returns+supporting documents.

Overall, although RFE's are not a "good" thing, I guess I was just glad to know that something is going on with the application! My attitude is : at least someone is working on it!

good luck to you, I hope your next mail from them is the EAD!

I was worried we would get an RFE for the translation of birth cert and also the I-864 supporting docs. I also sent in the return and W2's but thought I missed something. Of course I can always get an RFE still! I'm thinking in your case, I'd probably just send in the transcript. It's the same information and it's acceptable. Is there a number you can call to double check? And yes hope you and my hubby get EADs soon!

We finally decided on getting a transcript. My husband went to the IRS office this morning and he was in and out in less than 10 min.

Just to be on the safe side I called the customer service line , as it says if you need clarification about the RFE to call. Wow! what an experience!!! The first person I talked to spent about 10 min just reciting from a script, part of it was exactly what I had in the letter, then telling me that I have to wait for the hard letter ( which I have already) and proceeded to tell me, there is no way someone can help me over the phone, giving a website for Pro Bono legal advice and how to make an info pass......Long story short I had to cut him off( gently :) ) and asked him to connect me to a tier 2. Waited in line for about 30 min and the person I talked to was really helpful:

Birth certificate: the IO reviewing my file probably just overlooked it, so send the copy back with a cover letter explaining where to find the translation and possibly highlighting it

Tax transcript from IRS carries more weight ( his terms) and it is easier to handle than tax return and supporting docs)

So we are all set an sending it in the morning!

Wish I could just drive by and drop it off :)

I still cant check my case status online and havent received anything since my NOA so i decided to call the customer service line yesterday. The first guy was useless, told me he couldnt find my case, then he finally transferred me to a tier 2 ISO who was able to find my case. She said its pending and I just have to be patient for my biometrics letter.

Its so irritating that they have an online system but that it only works for 'some' cases

Oh well, guess i'll go back to waiting!

I wonder if that touch happened after I talked to them asking for more information about the RFE

I have officially stopped looking for updates. It drives me insane.

I gave USCIS a call on the afternoon of the 20th to double check that they received the response to the RFE. I already saw from USPS website that it had been received and signed for but wanted to confirm my theory that I had an LUD only after I talk to them the first time. The lady told me that she doesn't see anything yet, but to give them about 3 or 4 weeks o process it, as they handle a big load and can't confirm right away if they receive a response or not.

Sure enough, the next day, my case was updated acknowledging receipt of the response to the RFE

Now crossing my fingers for the EAD and interview appt soon enough

Just posting as I am so bored waiting for updates from USCIS. I can't check my case status online or by the robot on the telephone so just sitting tight and waiting. Had my biometrics, no RFE so far (fingers crossed), waiting on the EAD and AP.... really need the AP! Argh, so frustrating waiting! :bonk:
