Went to DMV today and did the driving test (I now understand why US drivers as horrendous). For some reason I was incredibly nervous.

After a minor hitch with proof of VA residency, all went Well.

I did my FL driving test 3 years ago, so fortunately I was spared that farce now I actually live here. Remember it like it was yesterday though.

It was exactly the same test that all the 16 year olds were doing - 15 minutes in a car park, fastest speed 15mph. The fact that there are teenagers out there driving sports cars and vans at 70 on the Interstate after that test explains why I am almost killed on a daily basis in Florida and why a lot of the pleasure of driving has vanished for me in the constant fear for my life!!

Ugh, I don't know. My first RFE was for 'initial' evidence and this is for 'additional' evidence, but still doesn't explain why they didn't just ask me for both at the same time. I'm going back to my assumption about the original RFE which was my medical, which is a pain but I took a calculated risk in only sending my DS-3025 when I was missing one jab for allergy reasons.

I'm flying home on Wednesday though, so I'm really hoping the RFE gets here before then otherwise I'm going to be worrying about it when I should be enjoying myself!

Is there such a thing as a calculated risk with USCIS?

One lesson you learn when dealing with US government (or any government) is that unless you give them exactly what they want, you dont get what you want.

The DMV is worse lol.

I hope you get it sorted ASAP and bring me back some cadburys chocolate. Some proper Easter eggs, Hp brown sauce and salt and vinegar crisps (not chips arggghhhhhhh). Im trying to hold onto the old ways you know but Im gradually being subsumed into US culture, kicking and screaming all the way lol

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Well as I am over 19 and have held and existing full UK driving license for over 20 years. So in VA they let you do the test.

Which consists of 10 questions about signage. 25 questions about road use, and a small drive in the car. No reversing, no parking etc.

I did the test cold in a car I had never driven before and I still passed. Mind you with the performance I put in driving you might have been forgiven for thinking I had never been behind a wheel in my life. Definately a fail if taken in the UK.

I felt there was in this case. Best case, they would approve me without me having to shell out yet more money for an overpaid civil surgeon to write on a form in some biro. Worst case, a delay and having to part with said money, but EAD & AP ensure I can live a normal life while dealing with the wait.

Of course, now I am faced with it, all my logic and gone out the window and I'm just p****d off ;) But hey. It might be something completely different and then I can whinge about USCIS some more ;)

Cadburys chocolate is deffo on the cards, Mini-Eggs specifically. I bought some in CVS last week and they were so awful I almost cried. I will also be partaking of Nandos, Pizza Express and a decent curry! I'm clinging on to British culture for dear life (I'm even registering as an overseas voter...really) but I think I'm going to have to accept that some thing will just be for high days and holidays from now on!

Didnt think the mini eggs where to bad. you got to remember they had got small and a bit nasty in the UK as well. You are remembering the ones from your childhood. Like myself. Ohhhh and curry, Yes the curry. Bring it back. Doesnt matter if it is 24 hours old. Just reheat it lol. Accept your fate, I can feel a thin veneer of US culture settling on my skin like bad persperation. Welcome to the dark side.

You can buy Cadbury dairy milk at Wal-mart. Its made by Hersheys. Its a poor immitation but it tastes better than their own product. The way Im getting on you think I hate thisd place. I just miss the food I grew up with. How sad is that. Just the food.

On March 4, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

Welcome to the world of green card ownership. Congratulations. You will get it in about 5 days and it will come in a standard envelope, not a USICS one. With the green card you will receive a small metalized envelope to keep it in to prevent it being read electronically in your purse or wallet.

I assume you came into the Us on a K1 visa and your application had been transfered to CSC. Thats how most of us are being processed at the moment. There are a few unforutnate people who have had RFE's, ask Miss Jess.

Hooray, congrats!! You must be chuffed. What's the job?

Got a bit down this weekend, as I got rejected for a third job and the call-back I got last week has failed to convert into an interview. This is a going to be a tough slog, no doubt about it. Taking a bit of time off from applications for the moment though - don't want to be worrying about it when I'm at home and should be enjoying my time with friends and family :)

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGHGHGHGHGH

Got an email from USCIS regarding my last active case, my AOS. Heart skipped a beat...

But no. It's another RFE. Why couldn't they get that out of the way when they sent me my other RFE at the beginning of the year?!

So disappointing when I think today could've been my day. Now I have to wait and worry for a week for the bit of paper shows up before I can know what it's for.

Grumpy :(

Any update on the RFE?

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Hope you get your Green Card very soon.
