When creating an account on uscis website, are they going to email or text the answer you wanted? Or if what status your case is?

When you create your profile & add your cases to your portfolio you have options to turn 'on' or 'off' email & text notifications, as well as see the last time your case was actioned.

We're you doing the same thing too, I just didn't send a G-1145 form when we filed the AOS application.

I also sent in the G-1145 & that's how I received my first emails, I only discovered that you could create an account when I was doing the manual case status on the site. I didn't have a mobile number before we filed so all I did was add that to it as well.

Hey Everyone!

I am on the same boat -> December filers, although I applied on the last business day of 2010.

I am a bit worried caused last night I received the I-797 forms but all 4 envelopes were ripped and opened. This morning I went to the local immigration office, in Fort Myers, FL, but they could not do much. Next step: USPS complain. Has this happened to anyone? Should I worry? I am concerned someone at the post office opened my immigration letters... but why? Wonder if they stole my info?

Timeline:

07/26/2002 - moved to USA

04/17/2010 - got married

12/30/2010 (day 1) - I130 + I485 + all other forms mailed

01/03/2011 (day 4) - FEDEX tracking - package received in Chicago Lockbox

01/07/2011 (day 8) - Cashed checks

01/07/2011 (day 8) - Txt msgs and emails received

01/11/2011 (day 12)- NOA1 arrived on my mail box OPENED??

I remember when I got mine, the seal on the envelope was not completely shut either. It would have been so easy for someone else to open it and look at my papers. Maybe the seal came apart and someone tried to re-seal it?? A few others here on VJ had the same problem with there envelopes hardly being sealed. I wasn't to happy about it, but I didn't put to much worry into it. Hopefully it just got ripped in the mail and just happen to open!

Thanks guys for calming me down. I was so worried about the opened envelopes. In my case there were 4 of them and the tape was completely removed; the back of the envelop ripped. Very strange. At least it was not just mine

The envelopes on my NOA1's were also not sealed very thoroughly. They weren't open or damaged however.

Perhaps to the person whose envelopes were damaged...could it have been because of the snow enroute to you?

Nope had my biometrics on Jan. 5th, last touch was on Dec 18th.

Hopefully we will see something soooonish

Last touch also the 18th for me, my biometrics were on the 4th.

Bit bummed out today cos I went to the DMV to extend my driving license - they gave me a 60 day paper extension but said that without the green card they won't be able to extend it any further....so even if my work card comes and my license expires I still won't be able to get a job, cos I need to be able to drive to get anywhere

I thought you can use your foreign drivers licence untill you get your green card.

I know how your feeling. I'm in Texas, they won't even give a temp license. I was told I had to wait till I had my Green Card, but on VJ i've been hearing I'd be able to get it once I get my EAD. I guess i'll see once the EAD is in my hands...

For some reason I can't even open a joint bank account either with my husband. They said I need a U.S goverment id plus a state ID and a SSN. So i'm going to have to wait patiently for my Green Card so I can have access to our banking funds..

Waiting sucks!!!

I thought you can use your foreign drivers licence untill you get your green card.

I think it depends on which state your in. Some states only allow you 6 months before you are required to surrender your foreign driving license.

check with your local DMV.
