Create an account on the uscis website and add the case numbers you were given for AOS/EAD/AP to your account. The "touch" date is basically is the "last updated" date in the table you see. You can sign up for email updates, but I don't think you receive email notifications for "touches," only for more major events...can someone please confirm this, thanks :)

Miss Jess: thanks for the further info. I'll try giving them a call once 30 days has passed. Calling them doesn't slow down the process does it?

Correct. You'll only get an email or text for major events e.g. transfer for CSC. I did my biometrics a week ago and still not touch, so don't take it as gospel.

And no, calling won't slow down anything. You may see a touch on your file after you call though.

Another Dec 2010 filer here!

Greetings all~!

My NOA1 was issued on 12/16. Nonetheless I haven't received my Biometrics appointment notice and its almost 30 days. Getting a little nervous about this since most people get it within the first week or two. Anyhow, I guess the 'holiday season' may blame for this ...

My biometrics appt arrived today in the mail!!! It's for early February. I'm debating whether to attempt a walk-in (it's only about a 10 minute drive)...

Hopefully you can! Worth a shot especially since you are so close. You are definitely lucky

so strange...

I filled AOS and EAD in the same time. Got two codes - one for each...

And, amazingly - one (AOS) is available for look up at uscis.gov (status and 'touching' dates), but another one (EAD) - not...

Biometrics done on Jan 5, and RFE for AOS replied on Jan 5, too

BTW my guess is that AOS case appeared on uscis.gov after biometrics

Is it connected somehow?

My timeline is current and updated

thx meggymo :) i just google mapped it to see exactly where it was, and it turns out it's more like a 20 minute drive. did you try a walk-in? how'd it go? (noticed your biometrics are coming up).

if they won't let you do walk-in biometrics, will it affect your application at all? from reading the related posts on this, it seems it won't, but i'm just wondering if the people working at the offices get annoyed by people showing up at random times for their biometrics appts...:)

I did a walk-in in Orlando last week and it was absolutely fine, they didn't even blink. In and out in 15 minutes. It definitely depends on your local office whether or not they'll let you do it, but if you decide to give it a try they can only say no, and you just go back on your appointment date. It won't affect your application.

Go first thing rather than later because they are more likely to be able to fit you in!

Like Miss Jess said it won't affect anything with your application.

I won't be doing a walk-in just gunna wait these couple days out. We live an hour and a bit from Cleveland so we just decided to wait.

When creating an account on uscis website, are they going to email or text the answer you wanted? Or if what status your case is?

Once you have successfully created an account on the USCIS website you add your cases to it ( AOS, EAD, AP) you do this with the receipt number you have with each case. You can sign up for email and text updates. You will receive a text and or email if your case(s) update with an RFE or if they have been approved or denied.
