I think anybody born in the colonies was considered a british subject, which was their word for citizen at the time.

Of course after "we" kicked the redcoats butts. that was no longer the case. Now that Cleo is gone I dont have to

Most of the Brits hate themselves too as they nearly all have some Irish ancestors. I had a great grandfather who was a runaway sheep thief from Eire and his name was Moichel Casson.

However, the addition of some Welsh Bevan and Viking Summersgill and Norman French Barett, diluted me to the mainly Saxon thinking mongrel I am today. My constituent parts are so busy hating each other that it's a wonder I am still in one piece

I think the french were just going along the lines of "what is bad for britan is good for the french" as opposed to getting directly paid for their efforts. God, those were the good old days, when the Iraqis and Iranians were at each others throat, We really should have just fabricated an incident between them. Then we could have sold them arms
