Vicious teens cried 'Jew, Jew' as they punched and beat rabbi unconscious during Thanksgiving attack

The victim of a Thanksgiving hate crime testified Friday his attackers screamed "Jew, Jew!" as they beat him unconscious on a Brooklyn street.

"They ripped off my clothes, my hat and my yarmulke. They were punching my face," said Joel Weinberger, 26, a Hasidic rabbi and father of four.

Weinberger ended up with numerous fractures and a broken eye socket. He had three steel implants in his cheek, he told the Daily News outside the courtroom.

"I was hit from the back; I lost consciousness," Weinberger testified at an evidence hearing.

He came to, tried to run away, but was hit repeatedly until he blacked out again, he said.

Two 15-year-old boys were charged with assault as a hate crime for the attack on Harrison St. in Williamsburg.

Two NYPD detectives testified that the teens said they attacked "the Jew" because "it was something fun to do."

Detective Nicole Carter said the boys claimed they "were bored," went to a park, bought a "$5 bag of weed, got high" and then decided to go to what they called "Jew town."

One of the teens is accused of later beating two other Orthodox Jews - one last Saturday and another on Monday as he left a Chanukah party.

Because the suspects were charged as juveniles, The News is not publishing their names.

Both are chronic truants and drug users who cannot be controlled by their parents, probation reports say.

One of the teens was laughing during the proceedings, prompting a warning from the judge to "treat the process with dignity."

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Dec. 17.

These attackers are no more than trash certain to only be a drag on society.

In groups they attack people from behind or with the element of surprise, once on the ground the victim is head kicked and stomped which is clearly what happened to this guy.

What to do with teens like this? SIIK

Is it very likely, after a few years in lock-up they will resurrect their life and be anything other than producer of unwanted babies and more victims? Nope.

Strangely enough, theirs savage attack would not even be of public interests.... had they not voiced anti-Semitic words during the attack.

Stomping the skull of a man into the NY street for fun is bad.

Btw, what I find revolting is the attack, not the bias behind the attack...well, I find that revolting too, actually but lemme explain...I would be just as revolted if the attackers remained quiet during the attack. I've said it before a zillion times, and I'll say it again, I don't think escalating certain cases to 'hate' crime is right....all brutal attacks should be punished severely, regardless of motive.

I'm sure most would want the max dished out but many feel it creates a climate where identical cases of head stomping get different outcomes.... depending on someones race views.

Why should my mother who gets her head stomped, for the ring on her finger, get a lesser measure of justice served at the court than this poor man?

Why should the perpetrator of a murder get a different sentence than the perpetrator of manslaughter? The victims are equally dead.

The differentiation is more on the lines of did the perpetrator of the crime set out to cause harm or was harm caused as a result of violence that sprung out the interaction between the perpetrator and the victim. Anyone who sets out specifically to get their jollies by causing malicious harm to someone else no matter that the motivation should be dealt with harshly and certainly more severely than people who get into arguments that turn violent and who are justly ashamed of the harm they have caused.

... but we are not talking about someone who "accidentally" stomped someones head in or even carelessly stomped in someones head.
