Canada Vancouver Embassy Requirements

Hi,

My fiancee Carla will eventually have her interview in Vancouver. I guess they send her a Packet3.

Do they also send me anything? (ie. their requirements on Affidavit of Support etc.)

I've read some pretty good stories about the Embassy there.

Any personal experiences appreciated.

We also just got our NOA2 approval this past Friday. I received my Birth Certificate back from CSC today via snail mail...nothing else at all! No official NOA2. Is this unusual?

Thanks,

Gene

I've read about approved cases with no NOA2 sent by mail. I guess you can request one to be issued, though.

It says 'duplicate', but hey! I guess that would do.

From the consulate webpage:

Fiancé(e) Visas

The fiancé(e) visa process is currently taking approximately six months to a year from the time the petition is filed until the time a visa can be approved. The Consulate strongly recommends that you plan accordingly and do not make any specific wedding plans until after the visa is issued. Applications must be mailed to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the United States. Once approved, the USCIS will forward the petition to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will electronically transfer the approval and forward the approved petition to our Consulate for processing. The Consulate will then send out a packet of instructions to the fiancé(e) with detailed instructions on the documentation that they will need to provide, how to arrange for the medical examination, and how to set up an appointment for the visa interview.

The Consulate in Vancouver processes fiancé(e) cases for citizens of Canada, or aliens who are permanent residents. Individuals in Canada on student and/or employment authorization will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Such individuals must be authorized to remain in Canada for a continuous minimum period of six months (from the time the approved petition is received at the Consulate). Applicants must also be residing in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon or the Northwest Territories. All other applicants in Canada are processed at the U.S. Consulate in Montreal.

Once the fiancé(e) has notified us in writing that he or she has procured all of the necessary documentation required for the visa interview, the Consulate will notify the applicant of the date of the appointment. The Consulate will make every effort to provide the earliest available appointment. Depending on seasonal demand, appointments are generally available from 2-4 weeks from the time of notification from the fiancé(e).

On the day of the appointment, applicants must appear in person, including any dependent children who are approved beneficiaries on the fiancé(e) visa petition. Applicants must bring with them originals of all documents requested, and 100 U.S. dollars cash in exact change per applicant. If approved, the visas will be issued within two workdays.
