AOS Interview experience

Our interview was relatively short & easy.

The officer looked at us, smiled, looked at the computer, switched back and forth 3-4 times over the period of 5-10 minutes (while whisteling to some tune).

Finally asked for some pictures, we showed him some. He then asked for my latest pay stub and the lease agreement.

Then started to whistel again and the same looking back and forth at us and the computer screen.

Finally after 5-10 more minutes, he said everything looks in order and you should be approved and recieving your green card in 30-60 days. He said in his experience it should arrive well before 30 days.

I asked him we are planning to travel next year and he said if you dont recieve anything in the mail by early jan, make an infopass and they will place an I-551 stamp in my wifes passport.

I am glad this was smooth, although I did not understand the purpose of the interview - I did not recieve any RFE's, send every document, IO did not ask for any new documents during the interview, nor many questions except the standard ones which are on I-485.

He took my wife's I-94 but did not take the EAD card. Should I be worried?

Congratulations! Hope our interview on January 12 is also successful. May I ask what pictures you presented?

From what I have read, the moment you receive your green card, destroy your EAD so it does not fall into the wrong hands.

Congrats! No I wouldn't be worried about him not taking the EAD. It's likely because of Christmas the GC will take a while to come, and in the meantime your wife can work and have proof of her current status. I think it's best they didn't take it.

We showed him about 9-10 pictures (1-2 from when we got engaged and others were general pictures (like in a park, vacations that we took together etc)

We are still saving up to have a reception. So I did not have any reception pictures nor did he ask for any.
