Interview Dec 14, how is our evidence?

If someone would, please look over what we've put together? Our interview is Tuesday morning, and I'm of course quite nervous.

*small photo album with wedding pics, as well as pics of us living our life together

*a sheet with 3 drivers licenses on it, proving that dh and I are sharing a home with my mother

*wedding greeting cards addressed to both of us

*pregnancy congratulation cards addressed to both of us

*bank statement with both of our names (although there hasn't been much activity, I'm on medical leave from my job, and dh just got his work permit a couple weeks ago... my mother and our wedding gifts have kept us afloat)

*mail coming to my dh

*a sealed letter from the reverend who married us, confirming our marriage is genuine and she stands behind it

*a sheet with credit cards in my/his name, but same account (bills only come to me) number

*our birth certificates

*marriage certificate

*dh's passport as well as all of the letters he's gotten about our case, his work permit, all of that

*a copy of his vaccination proof

I think that is about it. I'm pregnant and have been very sick (on an anti vomiting pump for 24/7 medication), and of course with his not being legally able to even start to look for work until just recently, I'm scared we don't have very good evidence. :help:

If you have any suggestions at all, please share. We are open to doing anything we can.

Thanks very much!

looks good to me :) Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. There have been people approved with far less evidence.

Random and probably not required, but I would have some baby pics if you have any. Not because i think they'll doubt you're pregnant but because you're proud parents-to-be, show it!

Above all else don't be nervous. it will show if you are. You are SURE your relationship is real so show it. Remember that if they deny you (I don't think you will) it doesn't mean he's going to be deported. He isn't going to leave the country immediately. You will appeal, it's not over. I find it takes a bit of the stress away if you realise this interview isn't pass or fail/end of the world.

Also just remembered, do you have health insurance docs? Car insurance docs? What about docs from your work listing him as your spouse? Anything with joint names? Library cards.. whatever you can think of.

You'll find that they typically make the decision in the first 5 mins or so. A lot has to do with body language. Just be your normal selves, pretend you're just going to the bank to open a new account. The person is an official but there's nothing to be nervous about, it's just a process.

Thank you! Great advice. And I will add our ultrasound pics to the folder!

I haven't changed my name yet (I have left the house for doctor visits, a hospital stay, and not much else in the past few months, due to being so sick). No joint health (I am on an old policy until he gets one at a new job I can join), we don't have the money to add him to auto insurance until he's working, and unfortunately nothing at work either. Things would have been so much easier if they had given him his work permit a little sooner, rather than within weeks of the interview.

Thank you again. We appreciate your help, and will do our best to follow the suggestions. :)

An affidavit from your mother is better evidence than driver's licenses. Something simple stating that you two have been living there since xx/xx/xxxx and will continue to live there. (That's what we submitted)

Ultrasound pic: why? Doesn't have anything to do with immigration. And there is no real way to prove whose pic it is. If you're showing the IO will know that your pregnant.

Show mail addressed to the both of you, joint accounts and memberships, etc. Not things just showing his name. It's about showing how your lives have comingled since his arrival. If you've travelled, send boarding passes, photos, etc. Pics (if any) in social settings.

Thank you for your thoughts. I will add an affidavit. I'll keep the drivers licenses too though, better have more evidence to pull from than not enough, right? I'll keep digging to see if I can find anything else we can take that shows our lives have joined.

It's been a relatively short time so there can only be so much. Take what you have and then just tell your story.

Best of luck to you both on Tuesday.

I had my Interview yesterday (thu 12/9/2010). I took a big folder of paperwork with me, officer we interviewed with did not look at anything we brought with us, she asked few questions to confirm few items on the application, ( such as asked my wife if she was born in Santa Barbara as the application and the BC states) and than she approved the permanant residence status.

I really believe USCIS officer are pretty well trained and since they do this everyday, they are pretty good at telling if your merriage is a fraud or not, we have been married for 5 years and together for 11, this was so far easier than I thought it would be, I still can not belive it. Seems like you being pregnant, things will go very smooth, do not worry, and good luck, BTW seems like you have all the proof covered.

I suggested the ultrasound pic. Not because it has anything to do with immigration but DOES have to do with their relationship. I think it shows they're proud parents-to-be. I know if I was pregnant I'd be taking pics because they are part of our "continuing relationship"... plus if I had a woman IO most would "ooh" and "ahh" over the pics... I would :)

You do have me intrigued on the "no way to prove whose pic it is" front. In Australia the name of the mother, date of scan and all other sorts of details are on our pics.. they're not on yours? A friend of mine here in the US, in Houston specifically is pregnant... hers have all those details... so I'm not sure what you mean by no way to prove. Either way as i said when I mentioned it... not really "required" but she's a proud parent-to-be and there's nothing wrong with showing it.

My USs do have my full name on it. Not dh's, but they have all of my info, and the dates.

I have to agree, that taking them can't hurt. It doesn't PROVE paternity, but it is a big deal in our marriage, a big step in joining our lives.

Exactamundo :) Huge step. On a personal note, how far along are you?.. if you don't mind me asking... know the sex? Any name choices?

According to the baby growth, my OB says I'm 12 weeks, 4 days. According to my own charting, I am 13 weeks 6 days. Don't know the gender yet, but we can't wait to find out. :D Names are coming along! We've bounced several around, keep using them to see if they sound as good out loud as in our heads. :) It's the first baby for either of us, and the first grandchild on either side, so lots of excitement!

Oh yay :) I've always thought that choosing a baby's name is always such a big responsibility so I don't blame you for taking your time. I've always had the name "Lillian Elizabeth Rose" in my head. I really like the name Lilly and Elizabeth is a family name... the Rose.. not really sure where that comes from but they sound good together. My husband doesn't seem to keen for that name but likes Rebecca.. I have an evil little sister called Rebecca so that named is auto-vetoed.. so if I veto his favourite name I feel like he has the right to veto mine... sad as it is. I also like the name Alex. I always thought it was good for boys and for men. One of those names that goes for any age. Vanessa for instance seems like an adult name to me.. silly to think like that but oh well :P

My sister wants Isabella for a girl, and Lochlan for a boy. I believe she's doing the spelling that way, the traditional Scottish way... It's weird isn't it. I'm also automatically against any of the popular names like "makayla" and all those others that are going around right now... I also don't like wrong spelling. Like "Lysa" instead of Lisa.

Funny story. I heard of a few bad names but here's two to make you laugh. La-a.. pronounced "Lah-dash-a" (the mother gets really annoyed if you call her kid "Laa" or "La-hyphen-a".. lol), and Abcde, pronounced "Ab-see-dee"... yah.. righto :S
