Obama is a DEM. DEMs do not care about people, they care about power over people. They SAY they care about people. He SAID he was against DADT (another DEM policy) but he is not. He probably HATES gays. Rather than acknowledge their civil rights (DEMs fought against civil rights, even filibustered the Civil Rights Act, remember that?) he hands off what he could do to a congress he KNOWS will rejsct it. Then he blames them. So you are correct in implying he is washing his hands of the issue.

The amazing thing is the sheer number of DEMs so stupid as to buy into this and believe this #######. If they had a clue at all, they would know he could end this all by himself. He doesn't fool the Gays, but he really doesn't need their vote anyway. If they try to poitnt it out they will be considered weirdo's or, more likely, racists.

However, all the troops had had enough of war mongers like Churchill who wanted more war - they and wanted more care for themselves. In the landslide election of 1945, the returning troops threw the Conservatives out and a Socialist government was elected. We got the National Health System which is the finest creation of any politician in the western world ever.

It raised me strong and healthy and kept my dad alive into his eighties and my mother into her 90's

The conservatives would have them both slaving in the fields at that age without pensions or medical - that's what they are proposing here in the US right now - rolling it back to the 1800's and the workhouse for those who fall by the wayside

Oh I am a capitalist by inclination and training and career - but I want social justice too - health care for everyone as a RIGHT. Pensions too as a RIGHT. Let the old starve ? NO !

Study your history. It was the liberal Democrats that owned slaves and the conservative Republicans that fought for freedom. It was liberal Democrats that fought against civil rights. Jim Crow was a Dem. George Wallace was a Democrat. Nathan Bedford Forrest (founder of the KKK) was a Democrat.

The Dems have been fighting to keep people enslaved, dependent and subservient. They still are. Obama the Dem could free Gay people to serve in the military. He does not. Democrats could have ended the inhumanity of illegal workers being smuggled to work for far below minimum wage, with no protections with one of the things they do best...TAX. TAX businesses OUT of business for employing illegal immigrants. Instead they file a lawsuit against Arizona for doing the same thing...legislating the loss of a state business license for hiring illegals, protecting the right of today's "slaveowners" to keep illegals workig for them and keep the profits coming in from underpaying workers.

There is nothing "do-gooder" about the DEM party and there never has been.
