How would they know ?

When George Michael got caught smiling at that police officer in the toilet in california, that was held (no pun intended) to be enough to signal 'intention' to the officer

Could someone be outed on similar conduct without saying anything ?

Don't know because no one is supposed to ask so they'd have to catch them in the act and I haven't that story yet.

When I was in the Army when DADT was effect, they told us going to a gay bar wasn't proof you were gay so soldiers were free to go there without reprisals.

I remember one gay soldier who didn't tell about the uniforms from his "buddy" from another unit in his wall locker and bowl of condoms with the Austin AIDS clinic sticker on them. Nobody wanted to room with him so he always had room to himself which was a break on his part. He never got busted for being gay but he did go AWOL for a while and the unit did an inventory of his room which was a hoot with soldiers wearing chem gloves and cracking jokes all the while.

I had a pal who was gay but I never realised. I should have known coz he lived with a good looking younger guy with bouffant blond hair. But the blond had girlfriends too who stayed over so that threw me off the track.

We were in Munich and he took me to a bar and said "You know those rumours about me being gay ". I said no I hadn't heard anything. He said "Well it's true, and this is my boyfriend - the barman"

I had been out several hours in Munich at that time so I thought the tight leather shorts on the barman was a Bavarian thing.

I should have known as people at work called my friend "Phylis" when his name was 'PHILIP'

Anyway he then said " Let me introduce you to my friend Lulu" It was a 6 foot 6 Bavarian guy who shook my hand and his eyes were sparkling. I looked in the mirror behind the bar and in the mirror I saw two guys necking in a corner behind me.

I said to Philip "Shall we go somewhere else and see all the town".. and we did. So we went to a 'normal' bar. Normal for Munich anyway.

So there are telltale signs sometimes if one is aware of things...

Philip was a great guy and I had no problema hanging out with him and I even stayed at his apartment sometimes - sometimes on my own and sometimes with my wife...

No conversion attempts to report at all and anyway, in the words of Tone Loc. " We have had the eighties and I'm with the ladies"

The GOP is defunding the military. Awesome. And I thought it was health care reform they were looking to defund.

This was just practice. The new guys aren't even there yet.

That's one of the stupidest analogies I've read here on VJ. Man, what a whopper.

Steven, the REAL whopper is that Obama could sign an executive order and end DADT in the same way Clinton signed an order implementing it.

Why doesn't he?

Bull. There are 60 votes for the repeal of DADT (not that it should take but a majority to do so to begin with). Collins, Snowe, Brown and Murkowski on the GOP side have signaled their support to repeal this ridiculous policy. On the Dem side, there's a lone Senator who opposes the repeal. 58+4-1=61. It's simple math, really.

DADT isn't the issue. Bush tax cuts are the issue.

In other words, as far as the GOP is concerned, ** the military. Defund it. They will hold up anything and everything until they get what they promised their sponsors - tax cuts for the uberwealthy. They don't care about the security of this country. They don't care about America. They need to pay off their employers.

When Bush was President the Democrat congress repeatedly passed bills to defund the military. Bush vetoed them. The DEMS stopped trying to "de-fund the war" immediately when Obama took office.

Republicans at the time were using the same "security of the country outrage" BS!

Missing the point, Paul.

Oh wait, that's right! You always do. Doh! I forgot!

You made the point exactly. It is OK for Dems to defund the military but not Republicans. It is OK to blame a Republican minority for something Obama could do all by himself but has "decided" he wanted "legislation" In other words he does not have the NADS to take a stand and sign off on it one way or another. Great Commander in Chief we have there.

Because he knows it's way down on the list of priorities for the military and is only an issue for the gay lobby and hardcore liberals who normally despise everything about the military,

Good question. I don't know why he hasn't.

Most honest answer I've seen in a while.

Danno, that is pathetic, even by your standards.

Pathetic what... to point out basic facts? :bonk:

I am sure there are more hard core liberals serving in the military than there are gays.

Go easy on them as they die too

Pens frighten him and make him sad...

Are you saying Obummer lives in Namby-Pamby Land or he's a jackwagon or both?

Discuss the different statistics of

A soldiers being killed in wars by the enemy or tropical diseases or accidents or suicide or cigarettes

B Soldiers being killed by AIDS infected blood splattered on them from their wounded comrades

Don't think about it too long you guys..

Most honest answer I've seen in a while.

The fact that he hasn't defies conventional wisdom. Maybe he's saving it as a bargaining tool or perhaps he wanted to see if Obstructionists would at least allow it to go to an up or down vote. In any case, he has voiced his opposition to the policy so he must have something up his sleeve.
