Look, one day there will be a RWN in the White House again and when that day comes I'd like to see 40 D Senators be able to obstruct the inevitable lurch to the right.

when that happens, steven will decry any attempts to do away with filibustering.

Gays are already serving in the US military for many decades. They work, shower and sleep in the same rooms with their fellow service members, always have. And if any of them, gay or straight, would behave inappropriately, it would have serious consequences either way.

The only difference would be that the policy of not being allowed to talk about it would be abolished.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Gays can still serve. I don't think people even know what DADT means.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

It's like working at Walmart when some hairy lipped amazon from head office HR dept gets in your face and says 'Do you LOVE Walmart'

If you dont say 'yes' you are fired

Being gay in the military must be like that except you have to say nothing instead of something.

Both are wrong and can lead to stomach ulcers

Heterosexual members of the armed forces are allowed to engage in chatter about their boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives ... but if a homosexual does it, he or she violates DADT.

Outrageous? Yes, it is.

Many foreigners serve in the armed forces

Many of them do it just to gain citizenship if they survive

If one of them comes from a country where he can have a 12 year bride legally, and has, can he talk about that ?

It's pretty sick for you to compare underage sex with homosexuality.

You couldn't have got that more wrong if you had tried

You probably tried

nul point in the comprehension test

The point (sigh)is that both are considered wrong in much of our society, but one can be talked about in the military and the other can't and that doesn't make sense
