The GOP is defunding the military. Awesome. And I thought it was health care reform they were looking to defund.

I thought the military just got the lowest pay raise in 50 years.

I didn't get a pay raise. Most people didn't get a pay raise. Core inflation is near zero. Why should government employees get a pay raise?

That's one of the stupidest analogies I've read here on VJ. Man, what a whopper.

You don't read many of your own posts do you?

Clearly if TSA agents can only inspect same-gender persons, we would not expect Mixed Gender military peeps to be sharing birthing areas and Shower rooms?

The only logical choice is to assign women to one barracks, Men to another barracks and Homosexuals either in another or with the ladies.

Not sure what we will do with the various "Trans" folks... we will figure that out as we go along I guess.

 there was one year where we didn't get one, can't remember which year that was.

Clinton had line the line item veto.

What Congress needs now is single issue legislation. That way, we can avoid measures having broad-based support being dragged down by contentious issues tacked on to the overall proposal because the Senate Majority Leader has too little confidence to try putting them to a vote as stand-alone measures.

And it's funny that the Senate Majority Leader can't get everyone who caucuses with the Democrats into the same room when he needs them.

Maybe now he'll do the right thing by the Armed Forces and put forward the Military Appropriations Bill by itself. Because if he doesn't, his procedural shenanigans will come back to haunt him.

Bull. There are 60 votes for the repeal of DADT (not that it should take but a majority to do so to begin with). Collins, Snowe, Brown and Murkowski on the GOP side have signaled their support to repeal this ridiculous policy. On the Dem side, there's a lone Senator who opposes the repeal. 58+4-1=61. It's simple math, really.

DADT isn't the issue. Bush tax cuts are the issue.

More than 60 senators were expected to support repeal of the ban, including at least four Republicans. But GOP senators were united in demanding that the chamber vote on tax cuts first.

In other words, as far as the GOP is concerned, ** the military. Defund it. They will hold up anything and everything until they get what they promised their sponsors - tax cuts for the uberwealthy. They don't care about the security of this country. They don't care about America. They need to pay off their employers.

Right, that's it....

Why don't you go ahead and volunteer and pay more taxes? Send the government your entire paycheck as a matter of fact. Join a full community pot.

Oh wait, that's right! Liberals want everyone else to pay for their #######! Doh! I forgot!

Playing dumb or do you just not know that it doesn't take a majority in the Senate to prevent a bill to come up for a vote?

Neither.

But it wasn't 59-41, was it?

Who didn't "fall in line", eh?
