The Westboro Baptist Church plan to picket Elizabeth Edwards' funeral shows, once again, the group has no shame.

The hate group stated on its website that members will crash the somber event to be held Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., from 12:15 to 1 p.m.

"God hates Elizabeth Edwards," the anti-gay activists said in a statement. "Flee her example."

Edwards, who died on Tuesday at the age of 61 after years of battling breast cancer, will be laid to rest at the Edenton Street United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. The service will be open to the public.

She will then be buried next to her son, Wade, who died in 1996 at the age of 16.

"In her life, Elizabeth Edwards knew tragedy and pain," President Obama said in a tribute. She "revealed a kind of fortitude and grace that will long remain a source of inspiration."

If you think about this from strictly a :"media angle".... the Westboro group , will be taking a load off of John Edward's shoulders.

- they won't be close enough to disrupt anything and...

If the Westboro folks were not involved in this story, all the coverage would be about how John screwed over wife even as she was trying to recover from Cancer.

NOW THE WESTBORO clan get to be the bad guy and John doesn't look so bad.

It's a damn shame.

The 1st has got a lot to answer for. If they tried this at the funeral of a UK soldier they wouldn't last a minute. The Brits are very liberal and socialist and soft and quiet and apathetic until.....until they are not

When I studied criminal law I studied the defence to murder of 'provocation'. The examples given were much milder than this stuff and they worked

The classic case was a guy who met a 'woman' (who wasn't), in a bar. At the end of the evening he walked her home through the park and they got down on the ground and got into some heavy necking. Eventually he went for it and discovered the old meat and two veg. At that point he strangled the 'woman'.

He was found not guilty on grounds of provocation.

They are also turning up on Monday at the funeral of a soldier killed in Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago :( .

Personally I hope the Honor Guard lowers their aim and uses live ammo for the Salute......if you catch my drift.

They're irrational. Why would they picket the funerals of service members who died in combat in the service of their country? Particularly service members who are straight and God fearing Christians themselves? The whole concept makes absolutely no sense at all.

I suspect the reason they gloat over Elizabeth Edwards death is that she was a liberal. That alone is reason enough for their hatred, surely.

If we still had lunatic asylums they would be locked up - but here and the UK it's cheaper to turn em loose so we started to turn em loose and now they are nearly all loose and in a town center near you..

Try Seattle center at 11pm any night - hundreds of zombies like that

Caring for these insane red eyed degenerates is something I would pay tax for - get em in strait jackets

That is the humane approach

If it was my son being buried then I would probably not be able to achieve a humane approach but they are sick and a danger to themselves

I wondered the same thing when I heard they were involved in this...

Seems the Westboro group posted some "proclamation" (if you will) about her and why they were speaking out against her.

, I just heard a part of it in passing, they pointed out her public positions on gays.

Apparently their protest didn't go so great. I read in another article that only 5 of them showed up. They went pretty much unnoticed.
