Was I understandably cautious or just plain paranoid?

I would NOT have followed if the area was not in public and in plain sight of others. You did the right thing to be suspicious. Just because this turned out to be benign, doesn't mean the next time won't be dangerous.

I agree!

So I was on my way home from work this evening and I stopped at a convenience store to pick up a few things. A man approached me in the parking lot asking me for a jump. I said no problem, thinking that his was the car right next to mine. He tells me his car is "over there", so I started driving to follow him when I see that he is starting to walk down a fairly long driveway away from the convenience store parking lot. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable following him down the driveway, but he was welcome to use my cables if he could find someone else to give him the jump. He seemed very surprised and rather offended that I did not want to follow him down the driveway. But he managed to find someone else to give him the jump while I waited in the crowded parking lot for him to return my cables. I told him that I hope he didn't take it personally, but a woman needs to be cautious in this day and age.

I started wondering if I did the "normal" thing in this situation. Women, would you have thought twice about following this man to give him a jump? Men, would you be offended if a woman didn't feel comfortable doing so?

You did do the normal thing. I would never have put a woman in that situation to begin with.

just curious but why did you resurrect this thread from august 2006?

not that there's anything wrong with that but i'm baffled. lol

Well, I think anyone should be cautious following someone to an isolated area. You'd be at a complete disadvantage if anything should happen.

Strangest bump ever, but since it's here, that was a wise choice.

Something strange happened to me the other day...some guy followed me to work. well, I was driving and I passed him....he waved. So I pretended like I didn't see him. Then I pull into work & he follows...I'm all '#######?' so i slow down and he pulls up next to me:

Him: Hi, are you married?

Me: Yes.

Him: Happily?

Me: erm, of course.

*silence*

Me: hey, do you wanna buy a house?

lol

When I clicked on view new posts, this was the third on the list for some reason and said today. I was so baffled after getting this rfe for AOS over w-2,s and 1099,s I didnt notice the date. Plus I had just watched a movie about a woman in the same type of situation that was raped. Oh well, intentions were good at least.
