move the trailer, mow under it, put trailer back, mow around it. that keeps the cover down. i was gonna suggest a rattlesnake but that's probably not an option :P

get a cat

I have a cat. Next post is going to be about how to get rid of her. :P

She belongs to the kids. I'm not a cat person.

Get an owl?

steel wool & glue traps is what I've used. But seeing you can't seal all the holes, maybe mothballs?

Then your trailer will stink of them but better that than mice!

Glue traps are brutal. First a foot, then another, then the head, etc...what a way to go....

Go for the quick kill, mousetrap with "Capn Crunch" . Peanut butter flavor is a mouse favorite.

Had 6 mice in one of my cars, a few years back. Had them all out in 2 days (3 traps full each day).

Just visit the trailer each day to reset the traps and "dispose" of the catch.

Charles' advice about clearing the area around the trailer is good.

Thanks guys. Trailer is parked on dirt/gravel, so there is no cover. And due to the distance I have to travel, going every day ito emtpy traps not an option, as I mentioned. It's farm. The mice are probably endless. But the snap traps are what I used when I had mice in my crawl space at home.

I'll try the mothballs and the dryer sheets. When I go to a show, I'll set a few traps in case the mice travel with me, as one did last time. It was running up and down my bridles. I grabbed that one by its tail and took it far away from where I was parked to set it free....

Snakes on a mfing horse trailer?

(Sorry, I couldn't resist. :D )

I've noticed the mice problem has been worse than normal this year as well-- not sure why! My only suggestions are to be sure you're not storing any food in there (Although I doubt you are), because that should realistically be the only reason they're camping out in the summer. Any grain or hay being left in any part of it that could be attracting them, perhaps left in the tack bit, and they're searching for more? If not, perhaps any drawers that might have traces of food could possibly use a good scrubdown too, they seem to be drawn to even the tiniest grains of sugar or things like that.

I have seen people try those sonic gizmos before, they did not work well for them. Good advice about keeping food out of there, the mice love little tidbits to feed on.

Thanks Jez. I did have horse treats in the tack area which have since been placed in a plastic container. I didn't think about the residue on the bits... good thought.

This might sound funny, but get a ferret. Mice are scared to death of this creature, once one of my hubby's uncles use it to get rid of mice problem in his farm. It really works and they won't come back for years !!

Really... and just let it run free in trailer? Maybe I could 'borrow' one...
