My letter said it will take about 2 hours too and bring 2 pictures. I don't think the interview itself will be 2 hours, I think it's a cushion and also you may not get called in right away as they could be running behind schedule.

I waited 45 minutes in line to get into the building, then another 1 hour and 45 minutes until I was called in to the interview.

The interview itself took 20 minutes. I arrived at 10:23, and walked out at 1:20, almost 3 hours after arriving.

No photos, as from now on the photo they took of you at the biometrics appointment will be electronically printed onto your Certificate of Citizenship.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

You can view the latest Document Checklist at http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/attachments.pdf, this as well as the instructions and the M-476 manual never seem to keep up with the latest changes. Never was mandatory to bring in two extra passport photos, but highly recommended that you do in the event they lost the ones you sent in.

Assumingly, the tax returns you sent in are copies, they want you to bring in the originals.

In our experience, USCIS has NEVER kept the appointed time, always a wait, longest was 3.5 hours, but you don't dare show up one second later than your appointed time, they could reject you for being late.

My friend was wondering about the 2 hours thing too when he called me for advice on the interview. Can't remember how long mine took, but it'll depend on your individual case, some people's interview are very quick like mine because it's straight forward and there's no issues. Other people might have a little bit more in depth interview if they have questionable things on their N-400 or on answers they give. One of the common issues is being outside the US for extended periods of time.

Also keep in mind some places will also do same day oaths, so that could also be another possibility where you might want to be naturalized that day if they allow it...

Ask around here or on other boards for your specific office. If they don't do the same day oath, then they will send you a oath letter in the mail at some point down the road and tell you what date and time and place to report to. Every place will have different ceremonies, some of course are more frequent then others (like once every month or two), while smaller ones may have it once every few months. All depends, but I suggest asking on some of the other local forums and on other sites as well to see others experience with your exact office...

My instructions say that it is not required but recommended that you bring 2 additional photos. (But I don't think I will spend money on it. They should have enough photos of me now :)

About the tax transcripts: I actually mistakenly sent the original transcripts (I have the copies myself). I ordered another set from the IRS in case they ask for it. But they should have the originals in my file...

You need two photos for your passport anyway. I would take them with you. They're not lost. You never know what happens and it's not worth it to take any risk.

I enclosed my original tax transcripts with my package as well and put photocopies of them with my own file to the interview.

The I.O. didn't even look at the tax returns. All he wanted to see is Green Card, driver license, wife's birth certificate, and the marriage certificate. He verbally asked me, however, if I EVER failed to file a tax return to which I truthfully answered "no." Since I had to do this under oath, that covered it.
