Have we gotten lazy?

Yeah, I don't really follow the threads close enough to know what's being asked by whom, but even if I did, I don't think I could jump to any real conclusions about their commitment to the process with a clear conscience. If I were to generalize though, I'd say a lot of these beneficiaries (pinays) are well educated and probably have better reading and cognitive skills than their USC counterparts, but that's just me.

:wow: With a thread like this, you must really be bored!

 Indeed.

If the foreign SO is itching to fly to the US or obtain immigration status, then they do their part. If the foreign SO wants to get involved in the paperwork and research for the sake of understanding the process and supporting the USC all the way, then so be it. If the foreign SO is educated enough and wants to lead, fine.

It's strange that your wife needs your reminder even to get her NBI clearance. If your foreign SO just lets you do it all, it's their call. It's about personal preference. I wouldn't be surprised if you fill out her SSN application form for her. You should teach her to be confident, not to rely completely on you. When will she learn?

My wife doesn't need reminders. I give thjem to her just to nudge her a little. But, most of the time she has everything in hand before I need to say everything. She has learned already. She's not relying on me entirely, I chose to handle all of the paperwork. She was having some problems with a couple of the forms, so I jumped in.

I did much of the paperwork, including the research too re: documents required for every stage and constantly reminding him of it so he can prepare it, i don't want to add up to his busy work schedule at work, i don't have difficulty with the english language at all. :)

IMO, it depends on each individual's personality, intellect and resourcefulness. Whoever is better at organizing and going through details will more likely do most of the paperwork. It doesn't matter what the gender is, the nationality or whether he/she is the petitioner/beneficiary. Many FIlipinas are college/university-educated, hold postgraduate degrees, are professional workers, and are fluent in English (sometimes more so than the USC when it comes to grammar, spelling and composition). If the beneficiary happens to lack adequate English language skills and/or lacks reading comprehension and/or is unused to doing paperwork, then I agree that the USC petitioner should be helping out more.

Well I must be sorta lazy by the OP's post because i let my beneficiary do most of the paperwork and only helped when she couldn't understand the form. My goal is to make sure my wife is self reliant on doing things and not always depending on me. The point is not being lazy but giving our beneficiaries a taste of what is to come because she will be seeing alot more forms in the same technical jargon. It is a teaching tool to also show me how much of the english language my wife understands. From what I seen many filipinas can speak the language, but put it on paper and replace common words with more technical and uncommon terms then we see that it takes more than just speaking well to know english.

I wanted to see the extent of her skills of speaking, interpret, research and reading english. It's the same thing that most americans don't get is that a sentence can be spoken 2 to 3 times and each time have a different meaning using the same words. That is why my wife already knows she will be enrolled into college here and taking english as a second language to get a better grasp on interpretation, reading, and common slang of english. To the OP  don't beat your chest because you did all the work for your beneficiary, for me it is evaluating my wife and she did the same to me. My wife did alot because I wanted to see if she really wanted to come here or not.  And it is a teaching tool to let me know what she was capable off and areas that need improvement. For us it's about improving each other and not just who does it all the work.
