Anybody Here Ever Fly Arik Airlines?

I got a really good rate ($970.00) round-trip, non-stop from NYC to Lagos, Nigeria on Arik Air - which is a Nigerian airline.

Has anyone flown them before or know anyone that's flown them?

I just would like some feedback on their reliability...

Thanks!

That price is good for round trip and it's direct. I haven't flown with them personally but my sister and parent have. They are okay. They started flying direct to JFK since Nov 2009. They use new plane.

Thanks! I also researched their fleet and safety record online...the planes they fly actually have a bit more legroom than standard coach flights :) I think I'll book my flight tomorrow!

I researched them, and they seem good-but we didn't use them for my fiance coming here-because it only works if you are in NYC, as they don't partner with other airlines here, from what they told me via email, you would have to go out of security, go to the front ticketing to get your next ticket-after getting your bags and putting them back in. So if you are in NYC-it sounds like a great deal, a lot of hassle but worth it I think for a price like that-you must not be flying during high season?

Let us know how it all goes and good luck!

Just got back from Lagos with Arik. My ticket was $990 and the experience on a scale of 1 to 10 was 8. The only thing you would lack is inflight entertainment. We had it on our flight to Lagos but coming back was kind of boring. Never mind the services, leg room and comfort will overide these short falls.

New aircraft and never have to go through the long wait and nasty treatment in Europe during transit

Could you tell me how you got that price for Arikair.

I called their NYC office...check their website for the numbers.

Yes, I'm flying out Jan. 24th - which is post-holiday season. I actually live in NY, about 15 minutes from JFK Airport so it's a great deal for me - the direct flight and the price. This is my 6th trip to Nigeria in 2 years and for all 5 trips I had to switch either in Europe or Atlanta.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I didn't know their reputation and was a bit nervous, as I had always flown on big name airlines. Good luck on your AP....the time will fly and it will be done soon!

I flew Arik air twice....once in Nov 2010 and again in April 2011 both nonstop fro JFK to Lagos....The flight is a good flight not usually overbooked and means are tollerable. There is onflight radio and onflight Video's and saved TV programs. The only complaint would be flying coach is that the seats don't recline very far back which makes for a troubled sleep. And yes the flight prices are good......
