Passport photos for DS-230 package

Hi, thank you for walking us through the I-864 package. We've mailed it off and I am now working on the DS-230 package for me and my daugher. I had passport pix taken of us several weeks ago to include with the package but today I came across this on the government website: Photographs should capture from slightly above top of hair to middle of chest. Our photos are head and shoulder shots only. Should I have new passport photos done or will our head and shoulder shots suffice?

Where did you get them done? Did you get them done at a passport photo place?

Yes, they are 2" by 2" passport photos and I had them done at London Drugs here in Vancouver.

Mine were also 2 x 2, taken at Shoppers Drug Mart to American passport standards and they were accepted without issue. I don't recall them being to the middle of the chest, just the typical head and shoulders shot. Good luck.

Thanks! One other thing--I only had two done and now I see that I will need two more for my interview in Montreal in 5 months--will it matter that the interview passport pix are not identical to the ones sent with the DS-230?

It will not matter. I used a combination throughout our process; some taken at the time of the I-130 submission, some at NVC stage which were then used for my medical and interview.

FYI you will need 3 for the medical in addition to the two for the interview.

Another easy (and cheap!) way to do passport photos is with epassportphoto.com. You can use the website to upload and crop photos to the right size, then save the file and print them at your local Shoppers Drug Mart/photo printing place for 39 cents. The best part is because you're using your own camera, you get to do as many "takes" as you want, and you get 5 photos on one page of photo paper -- so it's like getting 2 sets + a bonus pic for MUCH less than you'd pay anywhere else.

Okay, this is weird. There is no mention of submitting two photos with the DS-230 form/ IVpackage. My IV payment was accepted today so I carefully went through the online instructions...and no mention of submitting passport photos for the IV package. And yet I thought I read this somewhere...

They can be different or the same as long as the specifications are correct. Good luck!

Didnt know if they had to be within a certain time frame.. Going to use the ones we used for the I-130 but when it comes time for the interview take current ones.
