I figured I'd get a thread started for Spooky and me (and any other Bears and Pats fans) to use for the buildup to the game, and for the play by play commentary on Sunday. The NFL thread is fine for the rest of this week's games, but I expect to post a blizzard during Bears/Pats, so a dedicated thread makes sense.

Naturally, since I am starting the thread, I get to name it. So naturally, I'll take my stand on the inevitable outcome

Sorry Spooks you're just gonna have to deal.

GO BEARS!!!

I posted this in the NFL thread, so I'll post it here so Scandal doesn't miss it.

I dedicate this to Scandal.

You better watch out,

You better not cry,

Better not blitz,

I'm telling you why:

Tom Brady is coming to town.

He's readin' the D,

And checking off twice;

Gonna find out

Who's not playin' it right.

Tom Brady is coming to town.

He sees the Bears when they're sleeping.

He knows when they're awake.

He knows they're bad more than good,

So be bad for New England's sake!

Oh, you better watch out!

You better not cry.

Better not blitz,

I'm telling you why:

Tom Brady is coming to town.

Tom Brady is coming to town!

He already came in town, that's why he knocked up Bridget Moynahan. I am, firstly, a Bills fan and secondly, a Bears fan, so I will enjoy watching Touchdown Tom get mauled by DA BEARS. When Brady gets to the Loop he's going to poop. The only light that Matt is going to see will be the El. Belichick will be bounced and Wilfork will be in the stockyard where he belongs. DA BEARS will crush the Patsies.

I've been working in Boston for the majority of the year, and have come to a real respect of the Patriots, especially Matty Light who will defend Brady (UofM GO BLUE fan too!) to victory.

Matty's got a special sign for the bluebearies below...

You composed a silly song. I, geek that I am, compiled some stats.

I went back to 1970. That's 40 years worth of NFL records.

In those 40 years, the Bears (NFC) and the Patriots (AFC) have met 11 times.

Ten of those were regular season matches, one was postseason - that was Superbowl XX in 1986.

The Patriots are 7-4 in these 11 contests. That makes the Bears 4-7 (see? I am a geek :P ). Not good. :(

The Bears, however, did beat the Pats in Superbowl XX. Good! :D

7 games were played on Chicago home field, 6 at Soldier Field and one at Champaign Memorial Stadium.

The Pats were 4-3 in these matches. Not good. :(

Taking out the Champaign game (won by the Pats), both teams are 3-3 out of the 6 contests at Soldier Field. Acceptable.

3 games were played in Boston. The Patriots won all 3 of them. Not good. :(

3 games have been played in December. All 3 of them were played at Soldier Field. Bears won 2 out 3. Very, very good.

So, that's the statistic I think I'll stick with.

Of all 3 December matches, all were played at Soldier Field and Bears are 2 for 3.

Sunday will be December Soldier Field game #4, and it will be a Bears win, making them 3 for 4.

The Bears kicked the snot out of the Patriots in the Super Bowl. But that was then and this is now. The Patriots have the best quarterback in the game and so far the best offense this season. The defense still scares me but they are improving. I wish the game was in Foxboro instead of the windy city. But we'll see in a few more days.

And my song wasn't silly. It was a masterpiece, a true work of art.

Blah blah blah Brady blah blah Welker blah blah Branch blah blah Green Ellis blah blah Banta Cain blah blah blah

Speaking of which, I think we share a mutual interest in the local Chicago weather forecast for this Sunday. Let's see, shall we? Well, apparently IT'S GONNA BE FUCKIN FREEZIN AND WINDY AS ALL FUCKIN GETOUT DOWN BY THE LAKE. Highs in the 20s, 34mph wind, good chance of snow.

Snow Shower / Wind

High 23°F

Low 6°F

Precip: 40%

Wind: N at 34 mph

Mostly cloudy and windy with snow showers. Highs in the low 20s and lows in the mid single digits.

And my song wasn't silly. It was a masterpiece, a true work of art.

I'll recognize your songwriting talent just as soon as you recognize my statistical analysis genius, and not a moment sooner. -_-

That's like saying a Playboy centerfold is an anatomy chart. It's a lovely song, save it for the lamentation when DA Bears feast on Brady.

Pats 38 Bears 16

This from a cuddly teddy bear.

Don't worry Pooky, our Bears are a lot more ferocious than your cookie jar avatar will ever be

I'll make a score prediction, why the hell not?

Bears 24 Pats 20

One of the Bears 3 TDs is a punt return by Devin Hester. The field goal is a Robbie Gould 46 yard beaut into the wind.

The Pats get a pair each of TDs and FGs. Good, but not enough. Sorry kids, better luck next time.
