When completing the 864 affidavit of support , I understand a transcript of the recent year 1040 is required. I also read where 2 years prior may be sent as well if I feel it would help my case. My question is.. Is a copy of the 1040 acceptable as well? I have all my 1040's and schedules and supporting documents. And do these copies need any special

certification or just a photocopy of what my accountant sent me? I hope I am clear on this question.

Copies are fine as long as you are sure you have all the W2's, etc. Also be sure to include the page you signed with the taxes. Your accountant might have a separate sheet that you sign as opposed to signing the actual forms depending on how they were filed.

Transcript much easier--no W-2, no supporting information, no extra schedules--just call IRS help line and ask for last three years--they will show up in a week or so, and no charge. No questions asked by NVC and no risk of missing forms so no risk of RFE.
