I saw the Stones!!!!!!!

I just got home from Rio! I went to the concert they had for free at the Copacabana beach!

That was such an amazing experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got in Rio at about 7am and went to a little hotel (my mom and dad love the Stones too so my dad went with me because my mom stayed home with my sister). The city was SOOOO full of people! Everywhere you looked you could see people speaking a different language..... it was one big party! Everyone was in a great mood and we all knew our night was going to be great!

My dad went to my cousin's wedding (another reason for him to go to Rio with me) at 5pm and when he came back at 7 we went to the beach. They closed all the main streets at 3pm so there were no cars.... just people walking and laughing and having a great time together, like one big family. At one point, we stoped to get something to drink and I saw these 3 groups of people that did NOT speak the same language share their drinks and sit at the same table. It was trully beautiful.....

So we kept walking to the beach and we finally got there at 9:40pm. We were about 400/500 meters from them, right in front of a big screen that helped me when I couldn't see the stage.

The concert started at 10:15 I think and they played for 2 hours (about 20 songs)..... everything about it was great. The sound, the place, the people around us, the vibe....IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An experience I'll never forget! But I thought about how much better it would've been if Dave was there with me instead. That would have made it the perfect night!

Didn't see one single sign of violence.... my guess is that everyone wanted to enjoy that night the best way possible.

On the way back to the hotel, 20 minutes after the concert was over, I just wanted to let the world know I was there! I was a part of that great event! It was beautiful! Here are a few pictures:

01/29/2007- VISA arrived.... no envelope though. I'm gonna contact them and see what happened this time!

01/31/2007- I'll have to send them one last financial support evidence.

02/01/2007- Evidence sent

02/02/2007- Evidence received by Consulate

02/06/2007- Consulate sends envelope!

02/07/2007- Envelope received!!!

02/10/2007- Flew to the USA!!!!!!

04/17/2007- Wedding day!!!

Oooh, I was hoping you'd post about this! We just saw them in November and I can guess how you must feel.. this was an *awesome* tour and I agree.. they are getting better with age!

Awesome!!! Their new album sounds like the old Stones too!!! (L)

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

I see them when the returned to south london on their 40 licks tour.

Easy one of the best concerts that I have ever seen, blimey they have more energy then most people half their ages.

I am so envious that you got to see them in Rio I see a clip on our news and it looked like the concert of a lifetime

We wanted to go...but we couldnt :( U2 is in Sao Paulo now.....i wish they would come to the north of Brazil....

The stones are gonna play in Argentina this week. A lot of people from the north of Brazil decided it would be a lot easier and cheaper to just go there instead of seeing them in Rio.
