Captain, Can You Splinter Off Religion and Make it its Own Forum?

I didn't get any traction there, so I will repost it here:

I guess my point was lost on this. I was never in favor of the regional subforums being splintered into so many groups and I felt the same about P & R splintered off from OT. But, if that is the course the Site Administrator wants to take, then why not splinter Religion from Politics?

Because the new Religion forum will be a ghost town. How many threads do you really see that discuss theology without any political undertones at all? The only reason religion comes up at all around here is due to the intersection of peoples religious and political identities. A forum that includes both is actually quite perfect; if the animus against religion bothers you, you might want to think about where that comes from.

Splitting the forum will (at this time at least) fragment posting more than assist things.
