What we really need is to reintegrate the off-topic and religion and politics forums. Seriously, anyone seen Off-Topic lately? It's two people posting each other's names several hundred times per day across a couple of threads. What a waste of memory.

I don't think it was the plan. I think the Administration and moderation really overestimated the amount of interest in non-political/religious topics. A popular mythology had emerged that there was this silent majority of lurkers who were so turned off by the political/religious threads that they abstained from participation out of pure disgust; the idea was that splitting P&R would unleash this silent majority and OT would be a happy and fun and vibrant place.

Like all mythologies, this one too didn't quite pan out. There was no silent majority waiting in the wings.

A popular mythology had emerged that there was this silent majority of lurkers who were so turned off by the political/religious threads that they abstained from participation out of pure disgust; the idea was that splitting P&R would unleash this silent majority and OT would be a happy and fun and vibrant place.

Like all mythologies, this one too didn't quite pan out. There was no silent majority waiting in the wings.

That's fine by me. But not sure where it leaves my favorite OT threads. Chopfucks, IEA (which is a game after all), NFL, Boobies, America Appreciation thread. Do we move those to P&R/new-OT, or do they stay put? Decisions, decisions.

A Game forum Steven? Seriously? You are aware of the little button that looks like an envelope? You push it, and you can sent a Personal Message to someone. A game insinuates that there is some sort of chance, strategy, or surprise to it. Posting someones name for 300 pages is not a game, it's a waste of server memory.

I didn't get any traction there, so I will repost it here:

I think St. Stephen may be right. We need more subforums. We have them by region. Perhaps we need to create them by ideology as well. So separate the Muslims, the Christians, the Atheists, the Antitheists, the Druids, the Unitarians, the Zoroasters, et cetera, like we do the Filipinos and the Brits.

Then we can start separating the political ideologies as well into subforums. Then peace will reign for all men and women and everything in between. Mother will be proud.
