Can anyone help me?

On the way to work today I made a stupid mistake and received a failed to yield on a left turn at 15mph. Does anyone have an idea what this might cost?

is it not indicated on the ticket front or back?

http://www.marincourt.org/traffic.htm - one link i found that i'm sure you'll need.

from the above:

The Court is responsible for filing citations received from all Marin County law enforcement agencies including local police departments, animal control, parks, open space, and fish and game agencies, as well as Marin County citations from the California Highway Patrol. When an individual is cited by a law enforcement officer for a traffic, local ordinance, animal control or other violation, the original citation is delivered to the Court for processing.

Once the Court receives the original citation from the law enforcement agency, it creates a court docket of the citation and generates and mails a courtesy notice to the person who was cited. This courtesy notice will contain the amount due (called the 'bail')

It can take from a few days to several weeks for the courtesy notice to be mailed. This is because some law enforcement agencies deliver their citations to the Court frequently (more often than once a week) while others deliver them only a few times per month. The Court cannot quote bail or give you information regarding your citation until it is received from the police agency.

You should be able to go to Traffic School. There are schools online. Every time I got a ticket in California, it is what I did. It erases your ticket. Check it out!

Yeah I will, its my first violation in 7 years and I want to keep those points off. I feel really stupid this morning......meh.

I found a similar violation for someone in Beverly Hills last year - $232 though they also had a license plate violation so I'm hoping mine is sub 200.

I got a "using cell phone while driving" ticket, for which the fine is only $25, but once they added up the other surcharges, it came to $132.00. Unfortunately, even that is a "moving violation" which luckily didn't have any impact on my insurance since it was the first one in many years. I'd guess you'll end up with about $100 to $200 total. Sucks, doesn't it?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

The amount to pay should be on the ticket, but you should never pay that.

I got a failed to make a full stop for stop sign in Eastchester NY recently.

I mailed the "how do you plead" as innocent back to the court and they gave me a date.

In the old days, if the officer didn't show up and you did, you would probably get off.

If the officer did show up, you could probably bargain it down if you at least showed

(even without a lawyer).

Now they have it down to a science; the "appearance" date is NOT a court hearing,

but just a CONFERENCE with the town attorney.

He has bundles of ticket & driving record reports in different categories & he starts with the worst offenses,

those being moving violations for folks who already have marks (points) against their licenses.

He offers a better deal (than that which would be handed out if you lost in court) to all -

only VERY FEW elected to go to court, because they were at least given a lesser charge.

For me, my license was squeaky clean. If I had pleaded guilty off the bat & paid the

fine, there would have been 3 points against my license, a $250 fine, a $150 surcharge

and some other $75 bullshyte fee.The "holy grail" offered to my category was to pay the

fine $250 only with no other charges and no points on my license. I took it.

In my case (for those who had worse offenses than mine), traffic school was an offer that

would have to be taken in the next 30 days in order to have no points on the license.

The traffic school certificate would, after shown to the town clerk within the 30 day period,

PREVENT the points from being assessed; traffic school can't remove points that are

already on the license, as far as I know.
