Hi, fiance received the email with the subject, "USCIS Acceptance Clarification" yesterday, Dec.6. He posted the package on Nov. 28 to Lewisville, Texas via UPS mail. The email read, "Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the Vermont Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number EXXXX1XXXXX.... ". The message suggested he may check the status of our application using My Case Status found in USCIS website once he receives the official Receipt Notice (which is commonly known as NOA1 if I understand things correctly?). If anyone can pls clarify me on some matters pls, I would very much appreciate it.

1. Is the Receipt Number given in the email msg the same as the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797)?

2. We addressed the USCIS Dallas lockbox on the cover letter and our affidavits instead to Vermont Service Center. Will that mistake cost us trouble in our application? A small, honest mistake such as that will not merit a RFE, I hope? Fiance is in Texas, BTW.

3. Once he receives the hard copy of the NOA1, does he need to make immediate phone calls or anything that will require his confirmation? Is his personal signature required or can anyone from the mail room personnel clerk from his barracks sign in his behalf? Im asking this since he is out for field training and operations for the whole day, and on occasions, they stay in the field for days

:ot: but may i ask how some VJ members are able to include their time line in their posts? Is it through signature? I filled up the time line data provided in the forum, but it would only appear if anyone would click on my time line box. I'd like to have a detailed info of our progress too so I wont have to write on the walls of my bedroom  Also, did I put in the right info - Lewisville TX lockbox, on "filing location"?

thanks very much for all your kind replies!

No, Dallas is where they are processed/check cashed, then shipped to the petitioners respective service center (depends on the state you live in, it's either California Service Center or Vermont Service Center...mainly).

No, pretty much you sit and wait...and wait...and..you get the picture :P for the NOA 2

Thank you for the clarification Blob. for question no. 2, pls tell me you meant to say "No, addressing Dallas lockbox instead of Vermount Service Center would not be held against your petition" :D USCIS is a national institution isn't it, and even though one location may process certain tasks, and papers get routed for other processes, it is centralized?

Aah yes, the waiting game. i've started on a new hobby, i draw sticks on my bedroom walls for each day that had passed since he posted the package :P I pray that I will not have to extend to the other rooms as we wait. LOL

good luck on your journey, just saw that you recently mailed your package too!

The Texas center is a sorting center, they get your application first then they send it on to VSC or CSC so you are fine!

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

No it won't be held against you :D. You're fine with the address on the cover letter etc. Sometimes if they get really backlogged they send petitons to other service centers anyway. All they care about is if you provided the check, the documents (I-129f, G-325A etc) and the proof of meeting in the last 2 years.

Yea, I hit 2 months yesterday. Hoping VSC puts more people back onto the I-129Fs soon as they have slowed down considerably in the past couple weeks. Kinda disheartening seeing all the people still waiting here.

thanks again Blob, I can only hope that all our documents are good and hard evidences for USCIS requirements. I prepared most of the package, and it weighed almost 2lbs of 8 yrs of a solid relationship. LOL.

Perhaps VSC slowed down due to the recent changes for forms and fees? I hope that processes will move faster after the holidays. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
