Nowhere in her post did she say any of that but it's just like you to always put words in other peoples mouths and twist what they are saying to fit your own evil desires.

I have no doubt that you don't see it because your understanding is so limited. That doesn't mean she didn't say it. I have begun a new thread to try to understand the strange reasoning I am seeing here. I hope it will become clear at some point because it's even more confusing to me now.

Ladies, I hope you all do not think I am over stepping good manners for the forum, but I am new and shocked at the viciousness here amongst sisters. It is alittle scarey. But I must, stand up for what I believe. I take no sides here but Allah ( PBUH). What "sect" of Islam I was born into does not matter; neither does it matter for you and should not be used as a platform for vicious personal debate like this.

His words are NOT open to mortal debate like this disrespectful of other sisters is not respectful to Him. Please show restraint in respect of Him and other sisters.

I hope I have not overstepped VisaJourney rules or manners as I am new, but being a good Muslim is more important than following rules of VisaJourney ettiquette. I have little experience with message forums and I am alittle shocked but I had to say something.

Sorry, I haven't made it to the end of the thread yet, but just needed to make a comment -

I think it's would be worthwhile that if we're going to debate these issues that we at least admit that the traditional view, held by most people throughout history, is in line with VP's interpretations of these verses on both the polygany and christians/jews issue. We can examine the source texts, the Qur'an and the Sunnah, but we also need to examine our history. If people would like to interpret it differently, fine, by all means go ahead. But, don't forget that it's an interpretation that differs from the majority. If you don't like the majority, fine. But, it's still a common opinion.

Certainly, VP's posting style is blunt. But, that doesn't give anyone a right to mock her. She's stating a valid opinion that's backed up by plenty of non salafi scholars, and that is held by all the major sunni madhabs (at least from what I remember reading).

I'm certainly not salafi and don't agree with a lot of the salafi reasonings, but that doesn't mean that I don't listen to their interpretations and opinions on things. I married a zahari/proto salafi (he doesn't like labels, but it's the best way I can think to describe him lol), so I get to hear it quite often, just as he will listen to my malaki, shafi'i and hanafi sources.
