We're in the same situation. My fiance filed the case (I-129F) July 6, 2010 and received NOA1 July 12, 2010. We signed up for case status update in the USCIS.gov and seen our case touched 7/16, 10/3 and recent touched was 11/16. We're coming to 5th month on Dec. 12, 2010 and still haven't received the NOA2... The hardest part is that none of the customer rep from USCIS has given us exact status of our case.. Who knows how longer we have wait.. We're hoping to get the NOA2 as X-mas gift...

And Merry Christmas to all of the bureaucrats who get to enjoy it with their wives while they force us to be us separated from ours.

Because there are no government workers who are actually stuck in the I-129F process with a loved one, too? Hmm... I think that's a bit hard to believe. Should be careful of blanket statements from assumptions. :(

and they're not forcing us to be separated, when we realized that ours wouldn't be through in the 7 months that our lawyer promised us, we went ahead and booked a 3 week vacation for him to be here for the holidays, it was a nice added bonus to get the noa2 a few weeks later. but either way, he won't get visa approved till feb at the earliest, that's what visits are for.

just curious as to why you think we are entitled to them within 60 days?

Because 60 days is more than a reasonable amount of time. If a private business, after being paid the huge fee the government demands for our K-1 applications, were to delay giving us what we paid for for 4 to 5 months, that business would quickly be out of business, squashed by competition who respects the rights of their customers to expedient service.

But the government has no competition, so they don't worry about the rights of those who pay good money to have things done.

As I said: THEY DON"T CARE.

it is in the works to put a freeze on raises for government employees and possibly a hiring freeze as per some of obama's new ideas. so that might make things worse even. but they have tons of our petitions coming in every day, and can only approve so many a day. and they don't deal in the fiance visa's alone. they do what they can do and work on what petitions they are told to work on. not really fair to be pissed at them.

they have no say in what is passed through congress, and i'm sure they aren't wanting to have their chances at a raise frozen, or have a heavier workload because of a hiring freeze.

Actually they did call and inquired many times but were only told to be patient and wait. They did, they never complained openly about it, they dealt with it (he went to visit her again, unplanned) and now they are together and are very real and very happy.

You can read our timeline to see our history. A year ago CSC did the same thing as you are seeing here. No touches until a day before the big approval announcement. You can only be patient. If you don't like the process, then I trust you vote in our elections and only elect candidates the support your views. The alternative is go live in another country or find another spouse. Sorry if this is so cruel but that is the way it is. One needs conviction and backbone and maybe some are not cut out for that.

if we had any other choice, let me tell you we would have.this process for us is getting ridiculous and out of hand we have called a representative and USCIS four different times, none of the operators we spoke to filed an inquiry for us.thats irresponsibility on their side, and i rightfully can blame THEM.

I'm truly sorry, but I just can't find any sympathy for government workers. I work in private industry and face many of the same problems.

I have not had a pay increase in three years, nor has anybody else in our company. The competition is stiff, and if our company cannot quote competitive prices, it will go out of business and we will all be unemployed. I go along because it is much better to be employed with a 2007 salary than it is to collect 2010 unemployment.

But our company cannot slow down one iota. Our customers, mostly large contractors, want their products delivered on time, every time. If we fail at this, they will not hesitate to switch to our competition. They are not interested in us making excuses such as big backlogs or overworked employees. So we work hard, get our products out on time, and stay in business.

Now why should we not expect the same from our government?

Because THEY DON"T CARE. That's why.

you do realize not everyone for whatever reason is fortunate enough to visit their loved ones whenever they choose to,right? it might be an alternative but its not the solution

Sadly, that is my reality too. If I had the money, I would fly to Ekaterinburg tomorrow and stay with Elena continuously until the day she got her visa, and then she and I would return to New York together.

But that is a financial fantasy. And moving to another country where visas are processed in a reasonable amount of time is a fantasy. And so is donating enough money to my Congress member to get him interested in introducing new laws to clean up this deplorable mess.

So I am at the mercy of our callous and arrogant government.

Government by the people? HA! What a joke!

All I'm hearing from Al422 is "They don't care!!" It's the *government*. It is not a 'private business'. I don't think you're taking into account the number of petitions they get, as well as OTHER types of petitions. I'm sure if you pulled people aside at the Service Centers and asked them "Do you care?" that a good majority would. But people have limitations. It's like you think they get the petitions and set them in a pile and laugh at us or something.

I think it's rather funny that you put an emotion to a collective group of people in the *government*, of all places.

You have the option to go visit your loved one, like the rest of us. Your petition is not the only one on their desks. OUR petitions are not the only ones there either.

Sorry, but the whining "omg they don't care" attitude is kind of tiring.

As for me, Yes, I'm missing my loved one just as much as you... however, I choose to keep a positive attitude about it. Because there are worse things in the world than a 5 month wait. (You know, like never being able to bring him over... or starving to death.. or freezing to death.. or a BUNCH of other things.) I have it pretty darn good in my life that I HAVE someone to bring over! Sorry, Al422, but your poor attitude and anger at the system won't being me down or make me angry as well. It's just unfortunate that you don't seem to even notice the good things you've got going for you right now. There is always someone who has it worse than you. And pardon my political opinion here... but if you hate the government so much, I'm sure plenty of other countries would love to have you. (I'm proud of my government, despite it being flawed.)

:) So who out there is actually keeping a positive outlook and is excited that you've come this far in the process already? (I'm stoked that I'm over the halfway mark in the 5 month wait! Yippie!)

that is a great attitude. i watch my friends and employees month in and month out, dating, trolling bars, going out to find what i already have. i spent 12 years in an AWFUL marriage. now i have a man that is my perfect match in every way, and having to spend most of a year apart is a small price to pay in exchange for the rest of our lives together. and if we can make it through a year of long distance, what can't we make it through?

I feel everybody's frustrations in dealing with the USCIS and this long process. I would guess that most of us who have traveled the long road of immigration, have at some point in the process, had to endure the stress and uncertainty that is required to complete this epic journey. I would have to say that the only constant you can count on with the USCIS is that there is no constant. Hang in there everybody for this too shall end.

When? December? January? February? March? April? Later? Will some bureaucrat subject me to some of the horror stories I have read here? The uncertainty is ripping my soul apart, and I just can't take any more of this. I need answers, and I need them now. If I knew the visa would be issued in April, for example, I would be fine. No uncertainty. Just circle a date on the calendar and wait.

But the uncertainty is doing ugly things to me. Every night when I come home from work, I look eagerly in the mailbox. When there is no NOA2 in it, I scream curses, kick the mailbox, and go into a frenzy of anger. I can't help it. I just can't take any more of this. It has to end.

you NEED to find a way to calm down, that is not healthy for you or for your relationship. we all know exactly how you feel, but try to think on a longer term basis. this time next year, you and your spouse will be getting ready for the holidays together, and bundled up drinking hot cocoa and watching a movie TOGETHER. it sucks ####, we all know it does. especially seeing people go through the whole process in the same amount of time it will take you to get your noa2. just keep planning for the stuff you do know is a certainty, and find a way to keep you from dwelling on the stuff that isn't.

I am with You on this one. An only difference is that my AWFUL marriage ended ten years later than yours.
