There's more than that jury of the peers involved. You are also entitled to legal representation (which will be provided to you if you cannot afford it). And since there isn't any way to try a case without a judge to preside over the proceedings, I think the judges services are part of that entitlement as well. So judges and public defenders are then all slaves. I'm sure they'll be glad to know.

Ah, but people choose to be public lawyers. An off-the-street lawyer cannot be forced to represent you though. You might be entitled to legal representation, but you aren't entitled to your choice of a lawyer if you cannot pay for it.

You are entitled to a jury of your peers, yes and that's constitutional... However, no one is forced to be a juror either. There are plenty of 'outs' on that end of things.

You are entitled to no services that someone provides for you without paying for them. You may not like what I have to say, but it is what it is.

there are some valid reasons for being excused from a jury pool, but overall, yes, one could say you can be forced to serve as a juror because otherwise you'll be fined.

perhaps, but most judges and lawyers won't accept a juror who they think will be difficult because they want the best result/unbiased decision possible.

I wish our country would make it compulsory to also serve in the armed forces. For those who are pacifists, they could serve in Americorp or the Peace Corp. Two years service from every USC.

Your social contract as a U.S. Citizen is not slavery, no matter how many Libertarian-wanna-be blog sites say so.

Huh? It's a public service available to all regardless of the ability to pay for it. So you would abandon those services as well, then, to end the slavery that our first responders are subject to?

You don't have a right to a passport/drivers liscense, etc. and all of those are provided by public services. As a matter of fact, people are denied those services on a hourly basis all the time.

Either you're entitled to all public services, or none at all. Cannot be selective.

On top of that, first responders aren't federal employees either, they are designated employees of the city/town they work in, and depending on the state, regulated there as well.

Germany is departing from the long-standing compulsory service next July. The military has actually pushed for that because to equip, train house and feed the lads is more of a drain than the military feels it gets in return.

Your citizenship is a contract that you are free to relinquish at any time. There are lots of expats now living abroad. Have you pondered the idea?

sorry, you are under no obligations as a US Citizen other than being born here. The 14th amendment made sure of that, and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it at this point.

The government has obligations, but the indiviual citizen does not.
