Is a K1 visa holder allowed to study in the States?

I was wondering if anyone knows if a K1 visa holder is allowed to study? I entered the States last week and obviously I'm not allowed to work until I get EAD (and not getting married for another 2 months so that's still a way off) but I've not been able to find any information about whether or not I'm permitted to study, either at the university or by taking a computer course or similar?

Does anyone have any information on this?

Yes, you can study. You should check with each college/university what their policy is on the tuition costs. Some would require you to pay non-resident tuition until you're in the states for a certain period of time (1 or 2 yrs). But some would let you pay in-state tuition since you're marrie to an USC -- I've seen posts with this outcome.

In any case, it's fine for you to study -- no problems here.

I was thinking about that for Claudeth but the tutition feels was so high! We decided to wait until she qualifies as a resident of California.

You can study, but you cannot apply for federal financial aid to help pay for your studies until you get a green card.
