yup.. I'm not a magic kingdom fan myself. Show me something in the Qu'ran that says women are not permitted to drive cars, operate transportation, ride horses or camels, then we'll talk.

Saudi doesn't speak for the entire muslim world.

Oh boy!

Tell me about the 'Islam made the statut of women better, they are respected' and all the jazz...

heehee, how could anyone argue that Islam does anything for women? The best they can do is try to argue it makes the genders more "equal" by being separate. Now I will go run and hide.

Islam has been hijacked by Wahabbists, unfortunately. From my (admitedly) rudimentary research into it, Islam gave women rights and a position far above what they had in pre-Islamic Arabia and most of the rest of the world, for that matter. Since then, Islamists have been using the very tools Islam gave to protect women to instead oppress them. For example, the hijab. Originally it was meant to protect women from unwanted attention; it was a way of saying "I am a human being who deserves respect, I am not an object". But in places like the KSA, Pakistan, etc. women who don't wear the hijab are beaten by the religious police.

Islam has a bunch of house cleaning to do.

Not sure if you will understand but in French we say 'with a lot of 'if', we can put Paris in a bottle'

'Avec des si, on peut mettre Paris dans une bouteille' for ze French!

Applies to talk about a situation that only exists in theory...

yup.. but unfortunately in some countries, women are kept illiterate or in the home, so that they are not aware they even have the rights.

So they have the rights just are kept in the dark about it ?

Saudi Arabia is an Islamic Monarchy, don't they follow the sunna, sharia and coran and isn't it a model to makes the laws of this country? no?

The KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) is where Wahabbism began, and their civil laws are based on that fscked up interpretation of Islam.

The only Sharia based government that worked was during the muslim occupation of Spain. Jews and Christians were allowed to practice their religion as they saw fit and all three religions got along, more or less. Compare that to what happened after the Reconquista. Jews and Muslims were given a choice: convert to Christianity or be expelled from Spain. Those caught practicing Judaism or Islam afterwards were burned at the stake.

Just in some countries.

Countries like Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan etc etc have a considerable number of females in Parliament.

Countries like Yemen (does have 0.3 percent), Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi, and the UAE have practically none.

This may be of some interest to you:

My amateur understanding of that is that a woman driving per se sn't bad , but is rather a 'gateway' to other bad things and is therefore not allowed.

Kinda like the argument that pot isn't bad because pot is harmful, but because it's a gateway drug.

The same woman can get on bus and go off sticking her nose in a bad place too. Same thing with walking.

If anyone is going to do something bad purposely, they are going to find any means of transportation to get them there.
