Marriage Certificate/Future Paperwork

Hello,

We will be married on Dec 8, 2010 and her K-1 visa expires on Dec 12, 2010. Will the date of the marriage certificate suffice for government purposes or does this have to be in their hands by Dec 12, 2010? What is the paperwork necessary to report this and where does it get sent to? I know there are some really knowledgeable people on this board. Thank all of you for your help.

6/8/2010...............Packet 3 sent to American Consulate in GUZ.

7/15/2010.............Packet 4 received

8/2/2010...............Interview at 7:15am in GZ - WE GOT PINK....PASSED!!!!!

8/10/2010.............Picked up Visa in hand at the post office in GZ.

Her K-1 visa expired the moment that she used it.

You are going by the expiration of the I-94 not the K-1.

After you marry and you get your marriage certificate you will need to file AOS. Check out the AOS step by step guide.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

As long as you marry within 90 days of entry to the US you are good...next step is filing for adjustment of status which should be done as soon as you can, but there's no deadline (see the guides for that step here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos)

As others have said, the requirement is that you MARRY within 90 days of entry on the K1 (which is also the date that her I-94 expires). Your marriage certificate will show the date of your marriage, so that won't be a problem for you.

You do need to file as soon as you can once you are married, but there is no specific deadline. We asked to bring our marriage license to the county vital statistics office ourselves so we could get a certified copy of the marriage certificate immediately. The procedures in every county are different (and my boss was our officiant), but this is something you can try to do to expedite things a bit. I'd say you can also start getting the rest of your AOS package in order, but since you are getting married in 2 days you are probably pretty busy with other things right now. It took us a month after getting married to file even though we got our marriage certificate back two days after we were married.
