I find it easier to buy for my inlaws!!! My parents are the type that if they need/want something they go out and buy it, so there is very little on their wish list. My MIL on the other hand is not as financially stable, so it is easier to pick things out for her. And I am around my MIL more, so that makes it a bit easier in itself.

This will be the simplest Christams for me as I don't have to get anyone anything. I went to London for Thanksgiving a few weeks ago for my big trip of the year and in turn I axed going to Canada and to Vegas for Christmas and New Years. So I'll be staying here and even though it's been a year since I've been to Canada and seen the family, I'll be spending it here at my friends place who will be loading up her place with alcohol and food and a few of us will just hang out and celebrate that way.

So since there's no gifts or anything, I get to not worry about a single thing yay. Oh I did buy a small present though. Fifa 11 for the PS3 yay, if that counts...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Hi Treble! :)

I have the opposite problem! My parents are easy to shop for. They aren't very frivolous people and I know them like the back of my hand. My inlaws do very well for themselves and buy what they want. Usually we need to get pretty creative to get them something they don't have and will appreciate.

My husband bought me something yesterday, but he's keeping the present in an undisclosed location off-premises. I can't even pick it up and shake it!

Got a cool unexpected present from my boss today....she gave each team member a cute little ipod shuffle. We were all quite surprised because it seems like a pricey gift, but neat none-the-less. I think I'm going to use it when I go out for walks. I have a Touch, but it's to cumbersome, this is light and would be easier to take a long.

Now I feel abd we didn;t do a team present for her :(

Cool gift! My boss bought us all poinsettia's. It's kinda nice because the office looks all colorful and Christmasy now. Unfortunately, I'm already killing it...

I found this helpful article from FedEx on shipping Christmas presents internationally. I didn't know about the $100 per item rule, I thought it was $100 per package! FedEx Christmas Gifts

We decided on a gift for the boss - she loves to read so all 10 of us chipped in and got her a Kindle - she'll love it and it was roughly $20 per person - gift wrapped and shipped even.

It's done! It's all done! I've boxed up a box of Christmas and one birthday presents going to our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grand children in Texas and another box with gifts for my Dad, my brother and sister in law, my niece (for Christmas and birthday) and what the heck, for their cats as well  . I'll be delivering them to UPS on Monday. The biggest chore is the box to Canada. Everything is individually wrapped - not sealed - in tissue paper, then the different gifts for each person are in a reusable gift bag so if Customs wants to inspect them it won't be a problem. I've got the list of each individual's gifts broken out by name, what the gifts are, where purchased and how much they cost. Where I have price stickers available I've stuck them to the gift list next to the items but I don't have receipts or stickers for everything. I tend to pick up items through out the year and store them until birthday or Christmas time and I don't always remember to put the receipts with them. I also buy a lot of things on sale or even at garage sales/thrift stores so that means I can get some great deals but then I have to remember what I paid for them :P . Anyway, they're done - and I have all of Joe's as well - just have to get some small stocking stuffer stuff. :)

What a lovely gift  . I'm sure she'll love it.

That's a fabulous gift, Udella! And congratulations to Kathryn on completing and boxing up your Christmas shopping! I still have to do my Christmas cards. lol

I was going to put up my outdoor Christmas decorations on Saturday (was waiting for the warm weather they promised us) but I got trapped on the highway for two hours which delayed my hair appointment and then it would have been too dark outside. Stupid contractors shut down 3 lanes of a 4 lane highway without any freaking warning. When we came to a complete stop and I was sitting there in park, I tuned the satellite radio to the DC traffic and found out they'd shut the entire freaking highway down while they moved their equipment!!!! I went from praying there wasn't an accident and someone being hurt/dead to being absolutely LIVID at the morons who would close a major freaking highway down on a Saturday without any advance notice whatsoever.

Yeah, so anyway..... dry.gif

On Sunday it poured down so I couldn't do it then, either. Not to mention that I was out running about in the rain all day taking care of stuff I couldn't do BECAUSE OF THE FREAKING HIGHWAY BEING SHUT DOWN. :bonk: Not that I'm still resentful or anything. :hehe:

So now I've decided not to put up the outdoor decorations because we're going out of town next week and won't be back until after New Year's.

Holy #######! It's Christmas next week!!!! :o:crying:

ITS CHRISTMAS NEXT WEEK??????????? Oh #######.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Well, well , well...so nice to see so many of you STILL here!!

After over a year I wanted to chime in on this thread...

Ugh! Presents for in-laws? What to get? I need to get my FIL and MiL gifts this weekend and I'm still at a loss. Any one have any ideas?

Hey Amanda. I would have said hello earlier, but you know, I got suspended.

I'm not yet ready to shed my Grinch veneer, but I did get Mel a present that I'm excited about. I want to keep it a secret cause she does read these forums from time to time.

Now you have to tell us after she gets it. lol

Oh, and welcome back. :hehe:

Unfortunately, I don't think It will get there in time. I ordered it, but they wanted to over $50 to ship something very small, yet would ship it to me for free. #######? Damn you Canada Post, yet another reason why I hate canada post, closed on saturday, horrible tracking system, slow as molases, and exhorbitant fees.

So when it arrives here, I'll take a picture of it just in case I can't mail it to her in time.
