To the contrary, your ignorance of the issue and the debate has been shown quite impressively very early on. Five simple words discredit you.

Do you work for media matters? Taking snipets and trying to place them out of context?

""""All in the name of greed and setting things up for an ultimate government takeover of health care that would be inevitable from their actions. """""

Of course, let's leave that part out. You don't look credible when you post the whole thing, do you?

There is no reasonable expectation out there that there will be any government takeover of health care. There hasn't been during the entire debate on the issue nor will there be any such thing during my lifetime. "Government takeover of health care" was a straw man put out by the profiteers of the most expensive and least effective health care system in the developed world to scare Americans away from a system that would deliver more for less. Anyone using the scare phrase demonstrates quite clearly a total lack of understanding what the issues really are. It really takes the snippet only in this case.

Well, apparently they were scared away, because nothing in the current legislation does that. The only thing the current legislation does is put more financial pressure on insurance companies, gives pharmaceutical companies a continued monopoly/out of control profits, and cuts government expenditured on medicare (i/e less healthc are for grandma and grandpa)..... That is hardly 'cost-cutting' in any way, shape, or form.

You can't add more of a burden to insurance companies and expect them not to pass costs on, which they are already doing... Some companies are grandfathering old plans, others are raising prices across the board on businesses/individuals. Of course this is to be expected when a company is forced to take on patrons that it would rather not serve due to the risk they are to the company and its growth. Yet, we still blame them.

I've said it time and time again, the enemy is not and never has been insurance, it's the cost of health care itself, which is an entity all its own. Insurance is a helpful tool to pay for health care, it should not be expected to take care of every last bit of your health care though. Just as auto insurance is a helpful tool to help you pay for auto incidents. Many have deductibles, some don't, but you arent' guaranteed to be covered unless you meet certain rules a well. Responsibility is ultimately on you though as a patron. If you own a car, you should be ready to pay for an accident, just as you should be ready to pay for your own health care, as it's a service. A service that costs money. All insurance is/does is ASSIST YOU. People seem to forget that purpose...

And where's the inevitable or even the desired government takeover of health care in all this? See, when you put that kind of straw man out there then you need to expect to be called out on it. Of course there needs to be effective cost control. Medical effectiveness research needs to translate into what is and isn't covered. That was on the table and has been demonized effectively by the health care industry. All we have left is the IPAB to address these issues. Not strong enough which is why the deficit commission would broaden the authority of the IPAB significantly. It's been established, though, and that is a step - however small - in the right direction.

Insurance companies add no value in the health care arena - at least where it comes to services that are essential. They'll pick the profitable population only, make money on them and then pass the rest off to the taxpayer. That makes no sense unless you're primarily looking to line a few pockets. Leave complementary coverage to them and call it day.

We do agree on the the pharma industry that has been successful in fcuking America for way too long.
