Should look something like a Charles Dicken's Novel, when the Thames freezes over.

quote:

The coldest period was the "Maunder Minimum," which ran from 1645–1715, and was a time of very low sunspot activity. During the Maunder Minimum, some winters were so cold that the English Channel froze solid and one could ride a sleigh across.

Just think of millions of Pakistanis and Somalis and Kurds and West Africans all driving their cars South across the channel heading for warmer climes - and the French government trying to head them off in snowmobiles

The French would surrender and the US would have to use Britian as an aircraft carrier to run them out...again.

Thanks for straightening me out--- I'll get right on that ' learning climate types...'

Ok- I'll nutshell this.

The UK is at a fairly high lattitude and IS bordered by a cold sea. This impacts the climate there.

Ocean currents from the Eastern USA help keep most of N. Europe from becoming a huge frozen tundra especially with the advancing Arctic frontal systems that typically push down during the Winter months in the N. Hemisphere.

Add to that the occasional strong Siberian High pressure that tends to form during the N Hemisphere Winter in interior FSU and the region thereabouts-and you have a receipe for guess what?????? Snow and lots of it.

Warmer moister air from the Gulf Stream + Colder drier and denser air from the Arctic Frontal passage + Very dry cold air from a possible Siberian weather frontal movement all travelling over a sea with a cooler temperature differential than one air mass and a warmer differential that the opposing air mass and the result...is SNOW.

of course the mehanics and thermodynamics are alot more complicated that my explaination, but that's the BASIC Cliff Notes.

Now, back to restudying those climate types and geography.

So we bailed out Europe AGAIN?

I hope there is a consensus from all bodies of scientists. ;)

Yep! The best money could buy.

The US was late (again) to join the mopping up operation on the 6th June 1944 - my dad was fighting in the jungles of Burma at that time and had been overseas for 5 years already. His father was already killed in the first war when my dad was 18 months old by the time the Americans joined in order to mop up again and claim credit

The Russians won the second war - they turned the Germans at Stalingrad and inflicted a quarter of a million casualties on them not too long after the US nominally joined the war and years before they made a move - any student of the war knows that

The only proper war the US has fought was in Vietnam - 500,000 US troops - we know what happened there

Just quoting a few facts, inconvenient as those might be to the John Wayne fans

 You'd be wearing a swastika on your arm or would have never been born if it weren't for the US. You'd do well to remember that.

Over 450,000 US troops were killed during WWII in case you didn't realize.

Your contribution to that effort was precisely zero, remember that.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
