BRITAIN is set to be gripped by a mini ice age.

Our winters will get so bad that by 2030 the UK will be in a state of near “anarchy” as bitter Arctic weather patterns completely change the way we live.

The plummeting temperatures will see property prices crash, while the constant disruption caused by the weather will cripple our economy.

These are the chilling forecasts of top climate expert Gavin Cooke, who warned: “We are facing another 30 frozen years, each one progressively colder than the last.

“These freezing temperatures will irrevocably change the way we live.

“Property values will crash, the economy will disintegrate and the nation might soon find itself in a state of near anarchy.”

Mr Cooke, who makes his grim predictions in new book Frozen Britain, said: “Government scientists are finally taking seriously the mounting evidence pointing to a string of Arctic winters.”

The recent cold snap has caused widespread disruption across the country.

At least seven people died because of the freezing conditions, including two pensioners who froze to death after falling over in their back gardens and two men who were killed in a crash on the M62.

Petrol prices have been soaring as the country’s supplies run low.

And banks reported that many ATM machines have run out of cash because snowed-in engineers are unable to refill them.

A spokesman for the British Retail Consortium said: “We would advise shoppers to stick to their usual purchases to avoid any problems with stock.”

The RAC said last night it was still dealing with about 2,500 breakdowns an hour.

Scotland, Yorkshire, north-east England and the Midlands are the worst affected areas.

I got out just in time!

They really didn't get THAT much snow over there either! I read the biggest problem is they don't have enough snow plows. It said they only have something like 12 plows and 4 ATVs (not sure what the ATVs are for?) for the entire city of London.

My friend summed it up nicely on FB when he woke up to snow a few days ago... "Every year when it snows, everyone in London recoils in a catatonic frenzy of disbelief, awe and doe-eyed wonderment. I heart the white stuff as much as the next snowman, but c'mon, stop acting like we've been visited by tap-dancing, gold-plated aliens. I can only imagine that using the freezer at home must be a religious experience for you people."

If it snows more than an inch down on the South Coast, they start looking for the return of the woolly mammoth.

:bonk: It's Winter. The UK is at a fairly high lattitude and surrounded by a cold sea. It's going to be cold and possibly snow, dur!

That's WEATHER! It's not the beginnings of a mini anything other than a mini panic because people cannot and do not want to understand the diff between climate and weather.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Then learn geography and climate types. Simply being further North than the Continental USA (except Alaska) does not make the UK a cold place. And Edinburgh being at the same latitude as Moscow in no way makes it anywhere near as cold.

The main reason? The sea isn't that cold. Especially the Gulfstream current in the North Atlantic. It keeps the UK climate as a Cool Temperate Western climate, not too hot, not too cold and rather damp. Or it used to.

Multi-culturism under threat as people from warm countries no longer want to come to Britain !

David Cameron says measures might have to be taken to stop them leaving - such as delaying flights out from Heathrow

"It sounds draconian but we can't afford to lose these recent immigrants because of a climatic effect that might be temporary" he said

Scientists said that 5 million people leaving the south east might cause the land to rise thereby offsetting higher sea levels and that would be a good thing.

Mr Bill Smith from Tunbridge Wells said his wife had become frigid 3 months after he married her in 1955 so it wouldn't make any difference to him.

Doubter. Nay-sayer. Science has proven this, it is settled science and there are even NOT any wiki-leaks to dispute it. UK will be an ice cube before the year 2023, Polar bears will take over and eat all the Englishmen and we will have to ship them millions of tons of "Tums" unless the US congress TAXES us NOW!

TAXES fix everything!

Thanks for straightening me out--- I'll get right on that ' learning climate types...'

Ok- I'll nutshell this.

The UK is at a fairly high lattitude and IS bordered by a cold sea. This impacts the climate there.

Ocean currents from the Eastern USA help keep most of N. Europe from becoming a huge frozen tundra especially with the advancing Arctic frontal systems that typically push down during the Winter months in the N. Hemisphere.

Add to that the occasional strong Siberian High pressure that tends to form during the N Hemisphere Winter in interior FSU and the region thereabouts-and you have a receipe for guess what?????? Snow and lots of it.

Warmer moister air from the Gulf Stream + Colder drier and denser air from the Arctic Frontal passage + Very dry cold air from a possible Siberian weather frontal movement all travelling over a sea with a cooler temperature differential than one air mass and a warmer differential that the opposing air mass and the result...is SNOW.

of course the mehanics and thermodynamics are alot more complicated that my explaination, but that's the BASIC Cliff Notes.

Now, back to restudying those climate types and geography.

I hope there is a consensus from all bodies of scientists. ;)
