Some of you may have read my other thread about the weird stuff we're getting out of CSC re: my husband's approval (we got approval e-mail; the actual approval notice we got in the mail was full of errors and only talked about biometrics, not approval; the 1-800 number didn't have any suggestions and the local office was unsure why the notice was wrong; our status has since been changed on the website and no approval is mentioned, etc).

Well, I called the 1-800 number yesterday and asked if my husband was listed as a CF1 (conditional permanent resident), or if his case was still listed as pending in the system. We just wanted to know what our status is, b/c we need to know if we're waiting on a greencard or if AOS is pending and we need to worry about EAD, AP, etc. (my understanding is that they stop processing EADs when AOS is approved). The 1-800 representative said that the only thing they can see on our case is what we see when we sign on to the website. He gave me an e-mail address for CSC, so I e-mailed them yesterday.

I received an e-mail today which simply stated that CSC can not receive e-mails from the general public, that we must go through the 1-800 number. Well, we already tried that, and they don't know anything.

I was just wondering if anyone has any insight as to what the 1-800 number is actually for? Throughout this process, they've never been able to give me any case-specific information about our status and any question I ask is always met with a supposition. I've probably called 4 or 5 times altogether throughout the whole visa/AOS process, and every time I have not received one helpful response.

Also, in the case where our file is no longer at our local office, what is the best way to find out any case-specific information? The officer at our infopass was definitely more helpful than the ppl at the 1-800 number, but he still wasn't sure about what was going on because he didn't have our actual file (he knew what he saw in the computer and what it was SUPPOSED to be, but that information didn't correspond to the actual paper we had in our hand). But we can't talk to the people who have our actual file because we're not allowed to e-mail them, we can't make an infopass to see them, and there's no phone number for them.

I am going to wait it out a bit because I know our case got fast-tracked, and I don't want to jump the gun. However, when day 90 comes around if we don't have an EAD or a greencard, we'll make an infopass. I'd just like to mentally prepare myself as much as possible in the meantime.

Thanks, guys!

When you were told that the 0800 can only see the same information as you can see on the website.... this is true... I was told this by a staffer at my congressmans office...

If I were you I would contact your congressman as they have access to email direct to the department that is dealing with your case.... I found them to be very helpful in getting information and sorting out any problems....

Good Luck

Kezzie

They are friendly and polite, but they can't give you sufficient information. Contact your congressman or schedule Infopass if you're afraid to do that step. But I only heard the best about contacting your congressman.

Good luck!

When you called, did you talk to the "first round" of customer service, or did you request to speak to an Immigration Officer (and hold for 30 mins to 1 hr) ?

The first person you get thru to does in fact have no info in front of them that you can't get on your own either online, or using the automated number. An IO can help a little more but you have to wait for what feels like an eternity to talk to one (I held for 1-1/2 hrs yesterday to talk to one).
