Hi,

I am a CR-1 permanent resident. When I applied for my visa I specified that I and my wife would move to Missouri, our first place. Does that makes me a MO resident?

Also, I have submitted now a AR-11 to change temporarily my residence from MO to NY since I am staying here for university. Am I stil la resident of MO?

I ask because this is confusing!

thanks!

In most states, once you have lived there for 30 days and/or accepted employment, you are considered a resident of that state.

Why is it confusing? Where do you and your wife live? Where do your monthly statements go? Do you work in NY? If your answer is Yes in regards to New York, then you are a resident of New York. You will pay New York state taxes not Missouri.

moved from Removal of Conditions forum as it does not appear to be asking about ROC concerns, but rather about concerns related to Moving here and setting up a New Life in America

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
