Hi everyone,

I was wondering what the process was after getting your IR-1 approved?

As soon as you enter the US what are the different processes that happen and how quickly would your receive your green card and authorization to work?

Any time lines would be great.

Unfortunately I am still in administrative processing (going on 8months now) and I am just preparing myself for future processes.

Looking forward to hearing your responses!

If the proper boxes are checked on the DS 230, there's nothing to do after an IR1 entry but wait for the green card and Social Security card to come in the mail, usually within a month.

at the poe you give the officer the envelope, takes photo an finger prints, ask a few questions ,stamps your passport tells you to remove conditions in two years welcome to the us, if you applyed on the DS- 230 for a social secerity card, it takes a bout three weeks, if not then go to the ss office,in about five weeks you should be getting your permanent resident card,...read the guides on this page get ideas, and good luck.

Yup,,, all I had to do was go to the SS office after I got my GC. Then a drivers license after all of that. All in all took about 5 weeks to have everything I need to work, drive, pay taxes and get on my hubbies bank account.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Well.. hopefully your AP end soon.. It SUCKS!! Look on the bright side though, you wont have to deal with getting any conditions removed when you get your visa!! Only have to fight with it again when you apply for your citizenship!

According to the lawyer it is because my middle name is Mohammad!

Even tho I am a UKC, have no links to Pakistan or the middle east, I seem to be in AP for the longest time!

Fingers crossed I hear some positives before the new year! :S
